What’s the hype around the MagSafe charger? Been finding mixed things online saying MagSafe is faster and some saying the wired is. Wouldn’t the direct wire charge an iPhone faster? Someone explain this lol

MagSafe is only good with iPhones 12 and above cuz the coils line up perfectly with the magnets. For any other phone, including older iPhones, it’s just a wildly inefficient wireless charger that’ll heat your phone up like crazy and take 3-4 hours to fully charge.

With the compatible iPhones it’s a much better option than the 5 watt brick (15 vs. 5). Obviously slightly slower than the 18/20 watt bricks but isn’t very noticeable.

I got a 20w block and the lightning to usb c cable. 14 pro. Phones charges to 100% in like an hour

Yeah I mean that’s the best option for iPhones. MagSafe would probably take 1:20ish if the 20 watt does it in an hour

    MagSafe is not faster

    Magsafe goated for macbooks tho

correct wireless charges slower per watt

some of the power is always lost in transit even though it's been improving

adds wear on the battery because it generates more heat per watt

it's popular cause you don't gotta mess with a cable, easier

So what’s the best charger to preserve battery health over time?

a slow basic wired charger, 5W

fast charging isn’t as bad as wireless per watt but still adds some wear from the added heat

i use a slow charger at night cause i’m sleeping and don’t need it charged fast

then i have a fast charger i use before i go somewhere if i need to charge it quick

letting your battery fall under 20% is also bad for it so fast charging can help

    Don’t even have a 5W box anymore. All I got is 20w

i prefer the wired fast usb c charger over the magsafe magnet for charging but magsafe is useful for mini wallets and other s***

    MagSafe pointless for iPhones

You still have a wire connected to your iPhone regardless, might as well have it plugged through the charging port for actual faster charging since “wireless” is slow af

You can use MagSafe without being plugged in
