She got a #1 just 2 weeks before Tory shot her.

The critical acclaim is overdoing it but some of y'all are just being salty haters.

i was half expecting this to be total s*** given the reaction on here but it's actually fine

think there's a good thread of funny/interesting lines throughout. production isn't too wild but is solid. some really good features and i think all of them add something to their respective tracks.

i actually really like that body hook it's kinda dumb but it's fun and there's a cool infectious bounce to it. if anything, i thought the album sagged a bit afterwards and found it hard to recapture the energy up to that point until the last two tracks. i will say that meg's singing def struggles a bit on dont rock me to sleep but i think other than that the song shows a real vulnerability. outside has a really strong refrain IMO but the verses are kinda weak - like it's a good album closer and then she does a verse talking about changing hair colours p much just seems a little bit wasted is all.

def a few cases of her re-using lines too but it's not really common, just a handful of times.

i know they're the reason for her success this year but kinda wish the best stuff from suga could've been kept for this - captain hook, B****, savage etc. just think those are some of her best individual songs and could see them bring a lot to this if fresh.

    but yeah, album is decent

i agree w/ u bout dont rock me to sleep; it got a lot of hate itt n i guess i get it cus 1 the singing isn't great (but that's not really an uncommon thing w/ hip hop/pop acts anyway) and 2 it's a jarring change from the previous songs

but i also think she taps into an interesting vulnerability there. the idea isn't really for most dudes i assume cus most dudes don't even picture themselves bein a position to be "rocked to sleep" by their partners, but i think it'll be a good song for some women to relate to

as for the repetitiveness, i don't listen to a lot of mainstream acts that are known for their ad libs, so i may just be out of the loop there, but her "ah" is so worn out to me by the end of the album

yeah i don't really have any in depth thoughts on it but i thought it was novel enough in the canon of hip hop love/heartbreak songs i think you're right that a lot of it maybe isn't gonna hit the same way for guys on a fundamental level. and honestly while her singing isn't great i actually think it's better than the equivalent stuff back half of suga so there's that

and yeah i don't really disagree on the adlib stuff. i think part of why i felt it dropped off post body is that it kinda settled into this groove of stuff she could rap about in her sleep which prob had enough of a run out by that point in the album

Y’all so focused on the samples as if the guy this website is named after literally just doesn’t put random sections of other songs on his songs

But this is an enjoyable fun listen, 7/10 album nothing crazy but it isn’t bad and has really good production

Taking a pretty popular song and flipping it in an uncreative and lazy way is different from flipping a sample you never heard before and probably never would of found

I think shots fired being one of the better tracks is proof that different content for her even slightly would benefit her
