Actually on second listen after h**** posting they are actually doing great things. The problem with rock music for the last 15 years or so is the production has been stuck so far in the past about how to handle many elements (specifically the kick drum). And it really has gotten to the point that no rock record can really compete with any top notch hip hop record because the hip hop record ALWAYS sounds better on car audio systems. HOWEVER with this album I am noticing whoever was manning the boards took that into consideration and really made that kick a monster. Secondly, another big problem rock music has had is rote repetition of the same lame ass dad riffs over and over and over again. These kids on this record do a pretty good job of changing it up and subtly incorporating hip hop and even some subtle hyper pop influences into the rhythms of the riffage which gives the album vitality and relevancy. Still mostly interested in having s***with all four of them at once but the album is way better than I initially gave it credit for.
