Anxious to see how this turns out. Pretty cool they’ve got Scott Ian and Dave Lombardo in the band now, should be pretty interesting

It’s a interesting concept and I’m guessing the original drummer didn’t want to stop his life to reunite.

But the idea of finishing a demo with your idols is strange & maybe a sign that the universe whispers ideas & it takes people like mike Patton to get on the phone to make it happen. 😨

“The Californian band are releasing their first new music in 21 years, the much-anticipated The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo album, on October 30 via Patton’s own Ipecac label, and speaking to Hammer’s Stephen Hill, the singer reveals that he reached out to Scott Ian after re-listening to Mr. Bungle’s original demo recordings and coming to the conclusion that the songs the band recorded as teenagers could be improved by the addition of a second guitarist to add weight to Trey Spruance’s riffs.

“I had no idea if he’d do it,” admits Patton, “we don’t know each other very well, but I knew he was a fan and he had come to a bunch of our shows over the years and had been really nice. So, I thought, ‘You know what, let’s ask Scott if he would do it.’ I reached out and... I think he was really freaked out. I think he thought I was going to send him the new Bungle thing, and I had to explain ‘No, I want you to be in the f***ing band!’”

With Dave Lombardo having previously played with Patton in both Fantômas and Dead Cross, the former Slayer man was a shoo-in for the role of Mr. Bungle drummer, the singer adds.

“Obviously, we used to air drum to his band back in the van in the old days of Mr. Bungle,” Patton says. “We’re all Slayer fans and, frankly, if you’re not a Slayer fan then I don’t trust you! That’s it, that’s the beginning and the end of that with Dave Lombardo, what can you say about the guy? He’s amazing.”

Oddly enough none of the "new" records released sound like Mr bungle. It just sounds like a metal band that happens to have Mike patton fronting it

No weird genre shifts, funk or jazz just str8 heavy metal

There’s only 3 records by them. It’s pretty slim except you might want to turn your stereo down on “the bends“ you could lose a speaker from the sound they recorded of this loud rushing sound.

You could listen to them in one afternoon. However the amount of layers they do, they really are amazing. I would suggest to listen to one a day because it’s just so much to take with you. 😳

There’s too much I love about MB, I always thought FNM was jealous because that was Patton’s main band masquerading as a side band Who didn’t have to tour that much, they didn’t have to sell platinum plus. They didn’t have to chart top 40. They were treated as mutant freaks over at Warner. They were a spoiled band because Mike had become a teen magazine star. It shielded them from getting dropped, IMO.

And while I liked FNM, when the singer left, Mike saved the band and then the guitarist was intimidated by how quickly Mike became the de facto leader. The 2nd lp cemented that. Jim Martin leaves because he can’t handle the death metal influences. Likely because it’s difficult for him to keep up with the goat.

Then FNM keeps replacing the guitarist each time & Mike lays down the law & makes FNM his side band in late 90’s

Strangely enough the 2 main leaders of Bungle both have record labels. But Mike became like a serious output for any artist or group he liked. Now MB returns strangely on some insane timeline & they have legendary drummer they wanted plus the legendary guitarist Stan of the band.

When this record is released, it opens the door for new material. Even though Ian is probably too stunned & dazed to ponder that he’s in the band with his well known crush.

Will Ian be able to handle this band if they shift to a post California Musical vision? Or is this the finale because the demo aggravated them much they never got to record it & mix it the way they wanted? I guess it depends on Trey and Mike. But this 2nd guitarist takes the pressure off Trey. But maybe Ian can hang with whatever Trey, Trevor, Mike throw at them. Trevor is a beast, he wrote Retrovertigo & Co-wrote Platypus. 😳

It looks to me like mike intends to keep Lombardo & Ian. Does this mean the next lp is going to be on the same 5 year cycle? I don’t know if they would wait 5 years. I think mb wants to do new material & this was just a way to woodshed the band & give the fans their dream: the thrash project that is not badly generation of tape but the vision of how they intended it.

These guys are secret cult marketing geniuses. Mike probably knew last year what he was planning after a few shows. 😭

It sort of looks like the Batman movie font. I wonder if wb will demand deluxe edition’s of the 3 lp’s to cash in on the Semi- reunion? Pleaaaaaaaase. Imagine your shows with additional artwork. 😭

How many more years until MB owns the master recordings to everything? It has to be only a few more years. 😳
