Has something like this happened before ?

Few weeks ago all OVO Sound projects (PND, Dvsn, Majid, Drake features features released under the label etc ) were removed from streaming and re-added as just independent OVO Sound releases. These were previously Ovo / Warner Music.

Ovo sound acting as an independent label going forward makes sense but how they just get back all the rights 🤔

independent artists have a lot more access to things like radio campaigns, playlist placement, and marketing than they did in the past if you have deep pockets or some business savy you don’t need a label anymore

Also the old music already been distributed and achieved whatever it did.

Using Break from Toronto for example. Already plat but now if it goes viral on Tik tok and boosts then the splits all to party / ovo .
