Just finished The Things They Carried. The first chapter especially was pure poetry. I thought the first half in general overshadowed the second half of the book in terms of quality although the second half had its moments.

Scott Fitzgerald. Literally his writing is so beautiful & expressive, never read anything like his work. Last Tycoon is great as well if you enjoy his writing style.

no book changed my outlook on life more than Infinite Jest tbh. Kinda hard to say it's 'must read' because it's not an easy read (but also not as hard as some make it out to be). The normal thing would def be to read some of DFW's essays first and see if you like his voice. Most everything he wrote is brilliant

Never let me go is also somewhat similar. It’s also a dystopian book but it focuses mainly on the main protagonists and character development
