TLDR: Never complain about management TO MANAGEMENT.
Sorry for the rant but I needed to type this out to make me feel better
Fam I’m devastated beyond words rn.
2 years ago my mom got this new manager who was a straight b****. She would belittle people over phone conferences, send nasty emails, and beg people to work OT.
My mom been on the same “team” at her job since it was created back in 03-04. She’s never gotten a low performance grade on any quarterly report or anything like that.
A few years ago she had a lot of health problems and missed a lot of time but her old boss stuck out her neck to keep my mom because of how good she was for the company and her team. These health issues still bother her today, and she’s pretty weak physically. So her job was perfect, computer + work from home. She can’t walk long distances nor commute daily.
My mom was even on f***ing vacation this week. Her boss called and basically said that the company reviewed all the teams and reviewed everyone individually by metrics and decided my mom should go. Btw my mom has been training other members on her team to improve THEIR metrics.
My mom and some other girl tried to talk to her boss about her attitude and professionalism, they tried to talk to her bosses boss, and even HR. So instead they just decided to remove my mom. Her boss
told her that if she contacts anyone in the company she would forfeit her severance (1 year pay).
This is major loss for my family because my mom was the most consistent person in my family man. Sucks cause I’m in another country and I can’t even be by her side.
OP I would recommend your mom look into the legality of her termination because it sounds like a crock. Wishing you, your mom, and your fam the best. F*** that other b****

she'll be alright she must know about her field after all this time, she'll probably get a good salary increase
this is how it works though, it's not a good idea to rock your bosses boat

truthfully as long as a legal reason was given it's probably a wash

Yeah more than likely but the not contacting other employees sounds almost like threatening her and that most definitely cannot be legal. I think the grounds for termination vary from state to state too

That's why I never and I mean never care about loyalty when it comes to employers

didn't see that piece but yeah that could be something to approach, if it was only verbal though it'll cost more to pursue than just to leave it int he end tbh

Yup

Like her team was the best performing team with the highest avg seniority.
But after her new manager came in. 5 people quit and 2 went into early retirement.
It’s only a 10 person team btw.
I tried to tell her to move departments or apply to management, but it would have required her to take a pay cut or move around to different buildings which she couldn’t physically do it

typically you want to switch jobs every couple years to get a salary bump
truthfully this could be the best thing that has every happened to her
granted it sucks in the moment but her resume will speak for itself
life is complicating at times gotta look at the future and not what's going on right at the moment
@op what does she do for a living and where’s she at right now?
Let’s just say she does international insurance claims
