Hip-hop literally evolved the art of storytelling (shoutout kast) in that it gave a form of expression where an artist could tell extremely detailed stories that I feel like had only been touched on in some folk music and much older country at such a smaller scale.
That's part of what's special about hip-hop, the degree to which one can express them selves in a verse, it's incredible.
