I really want to get a dog because I live by myself and it gets lonely, but I’m really worried about it becoming a burden in the future. I specifically want to have this like nomad lifestyle at some point where I travel and work from different locations. Does that mean I shouldn’t get a dog for my immediate benefit right now?

idk but my upstairs neighours have one and they are never home. they leave him there by himself all day and he literally just barks at nothing for hours on end. it's really sad to listen to

Probably not. Dogs are a big responsibility. You have to buy food and treats, grooming, vet, and walks and training.

also my friend's dog just blew out its ankle while running and she had to pay 5000 just to get it surgery so it could walk on that leg again. who has that kind of money sitting around?
