šŸšØšŸšØ What was the last Rap artist and/or album they were really into?

    • My parents were hiphop heads from the 80s to the 2005ish. Last artists n albums they really liked were Kanye West, The Game & 50 Cent.

    Late Registration
    The Documentary
    The Massacre

That was like the last crop of newer artists/era they really f***ed with, then they started trailing off after that, for the most part.

Im from the bayrea too. Family all over Oakland, Vallejo, San Francisco etc. So classic West artists with newer albums were being played by them too a few years after 2005ish. Such as E40 My Ghetto Report Card, 2000s Ice Cube n the 2Pac after death albums that were still coming out heavy n poppin etc.

    • Side note: but Bayarea is very local & West pride/centric with some connect n love to the South. The only East Coast niggas that really broke thru from my experience were DMX, Wu Tang, Cam'Ron & 50 cent. Idk how it is anymore tho I moved out of CA but i still visit frequently through every year.

My parents still listen to Rap, mainly that era n prior, but every once in a while they listen to a few songs that are newer.

My Dad liked the early-mid 2000s T.I type wave with Paper Trail and Ludicrous

My parents music tastes in terms of rap music was always old s*** from the 80s and 90s and that definitely influenced my tastes today (NWA, Rakim, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, etc.)

My sister really likes Kendrick and Odd Future and A$AP, sheā€™s more similar to the siteā€™s tastes than I, I guess

My mom is an rnb purist so she don't f*** with that tbh. Temptations, Kool & Gang, MJ, Janet... All of that. Dad was more or less the same. They both liked Pac tho, probably due to his actions outside of music I assume

My parents were raised & lives in Texas so itā€™s been a melting pot of all the coasts it seems

The last album I remember my mom buying was The Carter 3. She loved that era of Lil Wayne. now whatever song thatā€™s on the radio that she finds catchy she likes but wonā€™t go as far as listen to their whole album lol. Old school playlist on Spotify always on

My dad is into Kendrick, Cole, Old School Kanye as of late and has a disdain towards ā€œmumble rapā€. he always says he doesnā€™t know what theyā€™re saying but I think itā€™s just the lingo going over his head

Growing up & seeing all their album collection from off the top of my head they liked.

    Scareface
    Juvenile
    Big Tymers
    Dmx
    Outkast
    2pac
    Biggie
    Like one Wu album
    Jay-Z
    DJ Quik
    NWA
    Ice Cube
    Ghetto Boys
    50 Cent
    Eminem
    Snoop
    Dre

They had no restrictions on playing it uncensored so I was basically repeating what I heard growing up & getting in trouble at school

Dad is into older rap. My mom mostly likes crossover hits like Hypnotize, Can't Touch This, Getting Jiggy With It, and Gangsta' Paradise even though she'll claim to be a Pac fan(but she doesn't even know his music like that.)

My mom 53 and she loved GKMC

Round the time it dropped she came and told me that she heard it while she was on a trip in LA and she was blown away (she was in her early 40s at the time)

She ainā€™t even a stoner like that but I heard from my sister she was blazing to it one time šŸ˜‚

10 years later and she has no idea who these new rappers names are
