This is coming from listening to 21’s latest album. Seriously rappers don’t miss when they work with 1 producer.

It’s cool to have some co-producers here and there but as long as the main producer is in control of everything the album will turn out 🔥🔥🔥

It used to be that way but Illmatic sort of changed that.

I feel the same. Albums with multiple producers, unless the artist has a strong cohesive vision (Ex.: Good Kid, Mad City) often end up sounding like compilations

Drake needs to do a collab project with either 40 or Boi-1da, IYRTITL was basically a 1da collab project tho

Speaking of this Travis and Wondagurl album would be heat

At least have an executive producer that knows the rapper on a personal level like drake with 40

Instead of throwing emailed beats together and calling it a day

this only works when its a producer with some range though .. and those are hard to find these days

lots of greatest bands/musicians wouldn't be s*** without good producer

imagine Radiohead without Nigel Godrich
imagine The Beatles without George Martin

these people elevated these bands to god tier status

obvs hip hop is fluid but hip hop sounds best when their is concise sound when the mc & producer know each other so well

what does a producer do for a band?

There’s some artist that can work with multiple producers because they have a vision for their album, ie Kendrick.

There’s some rappers that just work with the hottest producers atm and end up with a mess.

Of course there’s heaps of great/classic albums out there with more than 1 producer but as of late all the albums with 1 producer
ends up being amazing.

I think the super producer + session musician team dynamic needs to come back into play
