Rocky has been carefully tracing and following the life cycle of music genres and applying his studies to hip hop. Usually after the peak in popularity of a genre comes an era with that mainstream sound becomes stale and audiences look for more experimental/indie artists. Rocky has been anticipating an indie era of hip hop which is why he invested early in experimental acts like Carti and is now doubling down on his bet by associating with Brockhampton and Jean Dawson

If you think about what the Rocky fanbase was like pre-ALLA or during that era and compare it to the kids that listen to Rocky now youll see how drastic this shift is
