I just rewatched it and I'm astounded this movie got popular in any way.
The God awful acting. For a scene as dire as this, I don't believe any of the characters. They look f***ing bored until his family is about to get shot. It feels like the director and editor were the actors and trying to double dip their jobs. I swear I saw them yawning in between those fast cuts. And I swear jigsaw actually move his legs several time like 30 minutes before the twist.
Why the f*** did they get Danny glover in this? I've seen chase scenes done better in my college classes. Seriously, I was in a chase scene that was filmed more professionally with better cuts.
I can't actually believe this was a cultural phenomenon. That premise shouldn't have been strong enough to carry this franchise. Considering you don't even get to see the gross s*** they tease. The grossest s*** in that movie was him actually rummaging through s*** in the toilet.
I'm disgusted at people who went and enjoyed this film as adults.
To each their own. To me the first movie was dope and I loved this franchise during my college days it was a yearly tradition to see the films with friends. I never saw his leg move. Do you have a timestamp?
It ain't for everybody but it was definitely a cool concept at the time and really made the horror genre relevant again because with a few exceptions nothing was as popular horror wise as this franchise was.

S*** had to have been made for $789 anymore than that and they were just burning money
Everyone has their own opinion but saying "I'm disgusted at people who went and enjoyed this film as adults." about a movie that a lot of people like seems weird to me
I think the movie is well done and I enjoy them. I don't think they're insanely well made or anything like that, but they're fun and I just really like twists in movies, Saw movies got them.

Your right the movie was made very cheap and and made an extreme profit I'd say that's a win for the filmmakers.
Idk though this seem personal to you lol
I typed out an erased a whole essay about how horror had gone into self-parody territory following Scream, and that I think Saw benefitted by taking itself 100% serious despite its shortcomings. Then I realized I could trim that essay down to the sentence I just wrote

It feels personal after watching it as an adult for the first time. As a kid it felt different
