what's with artists dropping on a thursday ??? Chris Brown is also dropping that day. As a chart watcher it annoys me so much when a new track doesn't have a full tracking week

Obv a smart move when you put the numbers on a side. You're dropping in a "clean" day with almost nothing else as a competition meaning that you maximize the chances of whatever you're dropping sticking with listeners that you'd usually never attract since they'd be too busy listening to other bigger artists that dropped their new s*** too

Very good question and honestly I have no idea, it's just something I started getting into years ago and since then I can't let it go. I find it interesting to read about (there's forums dedicated to chart discussion) and it always make me nervous when a fave of mine is dropping something

That's true to some degree but at the same time people don't expect you to drop since they all think new music is dropping on a friday, so it's for the most part only an artists fanbase that gets the memo. Unless u are a megastar ofc, then the media will help you out.

But if you care about chart position then it's not a good move, because you'll usually get the most traction on the first day, so you'll lose out on a lot of streams due to that boost being wasted on a week where u most likely won't chart

Yup, radio is still playing a huge part. That's why you still see pop artists doing well on the charts. I don't know the % of each stat (radio, sales and streams) but I've seen a lot of sogns being in the top 20 only due to radio. Without it they would only have been somewhere around #70-80

I get the idea but there's so many ways to stay updated about a large scope of artists nowadays that a lot of artists are just not a niche thing anymore. You have forums, Reddit, Twitter pages... that we'll keep you updated and artists are starting to understand it meaning that they would be dumb imo to not capitalize on this to expand their fanbase before having an eye on the BIG numbers

Depends on the sports tbh. In F1 yes, that's why Lewis' is the GOAT imo. But not with boxing or soccer, there I usually go for the eye test lol
