The democrats are in a bad spot because they haven't really voiced anything.
They gotta get out more and argue it's a shame
Bernie has, every single day without fail since corona became a pandemic. Last night he, AOC, Ilhan and Taliba had a four way video call talking about what's going on in their districts, how to help, which policies they're trying to introduce, etc.

It's a tragedy they aren't the majority in the party. They are the minority & outliers.
In another world tho they represent the Democratic party tho

They have been arguing but Mitch McConnell controls what actually gets voted on
But healthcare and welfare in general are factually expanded under democratic administrations than republican ones. I’m not saying the democrats are actually going to take steps to become a social democracy, but to act like they are the same domestically despite clear evidence showing otherwise doesn’t make much sense. They’re pretty much the same foreign policy wise though, just a disagreement in how much funding instead of where the funding goes
Democrats definitely do not advocate for reparations
John Conyers' bill has been sitting in limbo for years
Most of the democratic presidential candidates have advocated for reparations in some kind this cycle, so they do advocate for it. Whether they’ll actually do it is the question (and the answer is probably no)
They were gonna give everyone 1000 dollars once? You gotta be kidding me
nope that was a very old version of the bill
only people that made over 60k+ would get $1000
everyone making less would get less, anyone under 40k gets $600
Obamacare and the clear difference in social service funding between democratic and republican administrations are not insignificant things. The democrats could do more, but republicans often stop them. For example, Obamacare originally included a public option which would have made healthcare almost universal, but the republicans weren’t going for it. It’s true that even without republican obstruction, the democrats often don’t go far enough, but there is still a clear difference in each parties policy, otherwise the democrats wouldn’t even have a base

not true, Democrats had a super majority in 2009
the public option was stopped by a Democrat named Joe Lieberman

He was an independent at the time and he endorsed McCain. So he doesn’t count lol

I mean he ran as Gore's VP
in the 90s / early 2000s he was the center of the party when the party went further right then it was in the 80s or during the Obama years
and leftover Democrats from that era followed Joe, if he didn't have supporters in the party him not voting for it wouldn't have mattered
they should have gotten rid of the super majority and just voted on it but people like Joe wouldn't let them
senate democrats really trying to get meaningless woke points in the middle of a f***ing emergency pandemic

Reagan was a Democrat (although he didn’t matter at the time). Just because Lieberman was in the party, even in a major role, doesn’t mean he represents the average 2020 democrat. That being said, I should’ve said it was blocked by conservatives instead of republicans
Well if you read into it, Republicans were trying to weasel a plan to help the rich people way more while seeming like they're helping us.
The dems are going to make a better deal hopefully.

yeah true Trump was a Democrat also
cause both parties were almost 100% the same outside of social issues over the years

not to be on my conspiracy theory tip, but are they doing either this bc 1) they are trying to slip as much by republicans as possible, 2) they are really that dumb/petty or 3) three - they don’t want it to pass and include s*** like this to stonewall proper legislation
nope that was a very old version of the bill

Yeah, the deal was trash lmfao
Real change (in the form of ending corporate lobbying and changing the economic system) is something they dont want. But expanding welfare is something they have consistently done, which isn’t a threat to them

This isn't true.
The only candidates that actually advocated for Reparations were Tom Steyer & Marianne Williamson.

I said in some kind. Cory Booker, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, and Elizabeth Warren have advocated for economic based reparations. Even Mike Bloomberg has put forward some kind of economic program built on helping black people. Probably none of them would have actually done any of it tho
Imagine being satisfied with a measly $1000 when these corporations getting a blank check.
