What average kid(black or white) born in 98 would really know Brandy music like that? By the time he reached middle school, R&B itself was already on a serious decline to rap and EDM back then. Can't blame him for that.

If you into real music you would know

  • Durkio Krazy

    hopefully a hiatus

  • May 14

he could drop a quality artistic series of mixtapes that would change his trajectory but he's not that kinda artist

  • Htownwolf

The thank me later/sideline story revisionist history is wild on this site. You can tell a lot of these guys werent around in 2010/2011

To compare Jack's debut to any of those is just wild

  • Bobby_96

Make a hit song featuring Brandy and Ray J.

    lmaoo

  • Do rap features on pop songs and become the go to artist for that s***

  • best poster

He鈥檒l release a good few features/freestyles addressing the criticism. He鈥檒l continue to go on a marketable run, sell singles he鈥檚 featured on. The next album will have quality tracks but saturated with filler to meet streaming quotas created by his label. He鈥檒l be perpetually mid-good.

what criticism is he getting though? only controversy I鈥檝e seen is the Brandy/Ray J interview backlash which was ridiculous and not worth addressing at all imo. mfs won鈥檛 care in a week

he should continue to ride the wave he鈥檚 been on

At the risk of outing myself as a TikTok user, jack is the perfect rapper for FatherKel鈥檚 and Stassie( 2 Kylie clones)

Nah he has enough corny fans to keep playing those that long. But no way anyone still playing this by the time Utopia comes out

  • Kr0niic

He goes on tour and rakes in the $

After tour record more music and be a social media presence

    Rince repeat

He can make this relevance last at least 5 years if consistently dropping

hes here to stay long term

hell make better music on the next one id bet

  • lil uzi must be cracking up

  • May 14

if anything he just made it that much easier to over perform for his next album

drake had/has this hate after album releases too. jack just has to make undeniable hits and keep improving

  • Skrilla

Idk, I don't listen to him, but the sudden hate seems manufactured.

    Yep

  • OMEGA

For all intents and purposes it was good debut.

It wasnt no GKMC or nothing. But it aint far off from Cole and Drake's first joints.

You right he just needs to keep the pace he's going and try and naturally improve over time.

    What an awful take lmao.

Drop a bad album and your brand is tarnished

Since when did Jack become an A-list rapper?

i really dont get why ppl are putting him up against the "big 3" wtf lmao did i miss something?

maybe his downfall literally is yalls fault.

It's because of the hype he's gotten over the past along, combined with him calling himself the best rapper of his generation, etc.

The difference is that Drake's albums are never mediocre. They're better than most of the music out in mainstream rap but whenever people feel he didn't drop a Take Care/NWTS-tier album, they s*** on it but never because the music is legitimately bad. Jack's album is factually mediocre. There's nothing to salvage from the album. There are no songs that'll grow on you in the future because the decent songs on there are the only decent songs on there.

Also, Drake "hate" didn't start until Views, after he had already established himself in the game and even then, Views is praised as one of his most enjoyable albums today so it's really not the same thing.

  • laudi tory

It鈥檚 disrespectful to bring him up with these booty ass rappers just cause they鈥檙e the same race

    yes and no

Mac's first album was also cheeks so I mean

Chance the Rapper type trajectory where the well dries up and he stops getting the major backing and nobody cares anymore

Yeah but lots of rappers call themselves the best but dont get expected to perfrom that high

I just dont get understand it outside of that, he never had the music to fit the part and he never had the "look/backstory" that fit the part either

S*** is just weird imo, i dont think anything hes actually done ever warranted any of that kind of expectation

    do me a favor and

    1. watch this without cringing
    2. look at the comments and how vapid they are.

"it's a vibe", "can we appreciate the fact he's not lip sycing?", "You can tell he values visuals. He gives a "less is more" type aura. I find that refreshing!"

literally the barest of minimums. This would be one of the weakest songs on Let It Shine and everybody talking about the next Drake

I think the hate is overdone but that's what happens in the social media era. I also think the Drake comparisons have done more harm than good.
