dudes music has literally zero texture or intrigue beyond in recent times nods to other cultural or nostalgic touchstones. idk how anybody on ktt who actually consumes and listens to music outside the scope of what a teenage girl listens to is like oh yeah this stuff is good/not bad

What average kid(black or white) born in 98 would really know Brandy music like that? By the time he reached middle school, R&B itself was already on a serious decline to rap and EDM back then. Can't blame him for that.

If you grew up in a black household you definitely know who Brandy is

    do me a favor and

    1. watch this without cringing
    2. look at the comments and how vapid they are.

"it's a vibe", "can we appreciate the fact he's not lip sycing?", "You can tell he values visuals. He gives a "less is more" type aura. I find that refreshing!"

literally the barest of minimums. This would be one of the weakest songs on Let It Shine and everybody talking about the next Drake

Majority of comments on YouTube are bots/ fake. Label is paying for this

not necessarily true on a music tip
Brandy is a good artist but you acting like she had a run of hits into the 2000s and that's just not true

not everyone has parents that put them onto music. and brandy was never really that big. she's been a bigger celebrity than artist for a long time

  • May 14, 2022

Hopefully drop a better album next time

I heard a few good things on this last album but he needs polishing.

  • May 14, 2022

He should do a podcast, I would listen he’s a pretty articulate guy. Pretty sure he’s real serious about the music right now so I doubt It happens
He talked about it on big boy a bit

  • May 14, 2022

He'll drop an album like 10% better while only growing in popularity and people switch up real quick

  • May 14, 2022

he should try to actually rap and stop making these pop ass songs.

  • May 14, 2022

    Stop making trendy songs
Start going artsy and also get into self producing all his songs.

He needed theatrics, airplane outfits and dancers, the works. Him just standing there doesn’t sell the song at all. He’s getting talent show treatment for a #1 song.

None of the "hits" on his album are gonna last the test of time.

No he’s not talented and musically inclined like mac so he can’t lean on that

He barely has a personality outside smashing s***s

Yeah I’m talking about Jack. If I switched the discographies of Nav and The Kid Laroi, Nav still wouldn’t be a household name

Yeah I just don't understand how you think it's anything to do w/ him being white. There's so many artists that received lots of huge cosigns very early on just like Jack has.

Lil Baby & Gunna & Blocboy JB are more examples, there's so many

I really doubt Dua commented on the song like this

jack said he played the song for her to get her approval first and he said she was ok w it which is kinda funny cause the hook is pretty much jack saying I wanna f*** you dua

  • May 14, 2022

Release better music, more s*** like his his album before this come home s***. Get into some more comedy stuff he will be alright

the industry plant narrative for Jack is some of the dumbest groupthink I’ve seen pop up in a long time

Right he wasn’t just signed out of nowhere without a buzz and molded into damn near a complete different human before his first hit single cause that would be too obvious and on the nose right lmao smh

It’s hidden in plain sight bro and I’m not saying being an industry plant automatically means you make generic music that lacks an identity but that’s his situation

He got lucky with what’s poppin and it was during the pandemic so the label execs just ran with it but he’s not the guy he doesn’t have what it takes musically, same could be said for Doja they both have the most manufactured “stardom” I’ve seen in years almost feels like we’re back in the early 2000s mtv popstar era again

  • May 14, 2022

Hopefully takes a more artistic approach to music, he definitely could be capable of it but I think he’ll stick with the college girl music route

Yeah, he wasn’t. bro was selling CDs and tryna put himself on since middle school and was getting looks from big producers and opening for big artists as a high school senior off of sheer willpower. His parents aren’t industry. he got a couple million views off Dark Knight in 2016 or 17 without a label. Nigga was working at Chick-Fil-a as late as 2018 before he got signed lmao. All before What’s Poppin ever existed. Now that there’s DJ Drama’s label behind him, they, and I cannot stress this enough, are doing their job. Keeping his name in your mouth, linking him up with Cole Bennett for What’s Poppin, etc etc - is not industry plant s***. He generated his own buzz organically, made some connects, and is now an openly label backed artist. And he grew a beard. I don’t know what else you niggas want. Yes the music is mid. Extremely. but mfs just like mid music sometimes, it’s not that deep. He is making music for white college girls to get ready to go the club to.

this white nigga dropped the middest album ever created and I gotta defend him bc you mfs can’t do basic research

    RESIGNED

I cant believe he didnt know Brandy

I also realize that the majority of 22 y/o cacs dont know brandy but if you’re gonna sample 90s/2000s r&b s*** don’t embarrass yourself like that
    he cant even vulture correctly

I remember being 5 (in 2005) and wanting to sing Full Moon at a talent show. I ended up singing You Are Not Alone because people didn't even know about Moesha Jack should study the production side of Drake, because then he'd know about Fire & Desire.
