Banning menthol—the last allowable flavor—in cigarettes and banning all flavors in cigars will help save lives, particularly among those disproportionately affected by these deadly products. With these actions, the FDA will help significantly reduce youth initiation, increase the chances of smoking cessation among current smokers, and address health disparities experienced by communities of color, low-income populations, and LGBTQ+ individuals, all of whom are far more likely to use these tobacco products
...or (and this is a crazy concept here) you could address and fix the exact things that are CAUSING communities of color, low-income populations, and LGBTQ+ individuals to use these tobacco products.
I know, it's wild but man, it just feels good to dream of a solution-based government sometimes y'know?
But use of menthol cigarettes among smokers is not uniform: out of all Black smokers, nearly 85% smoke menthol cigarettes, compared to 30% of White smokers who smoke menthols.
Pure coincidence. It's almost like there's a cop as a vice president lmfao.
Also, gotta love how flavored vodka is totally gucci tho. God I hate these niggas lol.
SB: OP's not a smoker nor a drinker nor a d***gie of any kind (some would call him "straight edge").
Just a nigga that remembers why Eric Garner died in the first place.
it's a stupid ass unnecessary ban
It's also wild convenient cause it's like....
Why not ban all cigarettes? Like if menthol was majority white users, is this getting the same push?
They already did this in Canada. Backwoods slightly got around it by renaming some of their flavours after alcohols. For instance, Honey Berry became Wine and Sweet Aromatic became Whiskey. Not sure if that’ll work in the US tho
yeah this s*** is racist tbh
I seen it was specifically menthols and s*** and was like really?
like, f*** cigs and tobacco in general, but it being specific to these types is def racist

They had previously banned flavored cigarettes, I’m not sure how menthol got around that ban. But when they do these vans they are consistently dumb logic lol. The vape ban from last year was worded so that it wouldn’t ban disposable e-cigs. So Juul has to get rid of their flavors because they sold cartridges, but Airbar and Puffbar (worse for the environment) can make whatever flavors they want
Stupid move. Not only from a public safety viewpoint but politically looks terrible. Maybe that’s the point tho

yeah they did it here because flavoured tobacco products encourages kids to smoke. I remember cigarillos were so f***ing good..
same with juicy blunt wraps, chocolate phillies, etc..
I know a lot of people who started smoking because of flavoured products.
On one hand it’s good because f*** cigarettes, but it’s just gonna lead to a black market. And you know what that means. F*** big tobacco all I gotta say, and glad I got off cigs a couple years ago.

my body my choice

second hand smoke is the issue. it became a public problem in the first place. plus companies marketing to kids.

There was already a ban on flavored tobacco that menthol was originally left off of
Personally I think leaving menthol off of the original ban is more racist. Like f*** it, let the tobacco companies keep making money off black people, let black people's health keep deteriorating

It's more racist banning anything and not putting actual money or efforts into the actual causes that bring black people into these d**** in the first place.
Crazy idea tho.
in a perfect world all cigs and alcohol are banned from society
that's funny cause data shows decriminalizing d*** use and actually treating addicts like human beings work a whole lot better.
USA just gonna keep living in the 80s cause the war on d**** was such a success.
