Young DWhen did you submit your application?
I got a differently written email than the one in the OP, but the header of the email says I was approved.
I also got one just simply stating they got all my information the day I submitted the application a few weeks ago
i submitted my app on oct 15. i didnt even realize the subject of the email saying approved but yeah the paragraphs have a bit different wording. interesting

I definitely get how it could be very problematic if they don’t allow the forgiveness to go through though (since it makes extending the pause trickier)
Yeah I meant the latter. If they strike it down and as a result causing the student loan pause to end, it would be all bad so I kinda wish they would have worded it a bit differently. But, who knows they might extend the pause anyway no matter what the Supreme Court does.

Nov 25, 2022Young DOk so I got the "Your Student Loan Debt Relief Application Has Been Approved" email (woo!)
But my wife applied too (even though she transferred her loans to So-Fi a few years ago for a lower interest rate) just for the hell of it not expecting it to be approved cause she has them with a private loan company now...and she got the same email!
Is this just more of an automated thing and if/when the forgiveness actually comes she won't actually get the forgiveness?
This is what I was saying earlier, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone who put an app in got that email regardless of how true it is for them.
You could've put one in under Tupac Shakur with all his info and they would've sent you an email probably

I think so, at least that reasoning would make sense to me, because the DOJ's request at the Supreme Court to appeal and lift the injunction is due December 1st.
DOE is playing it smart. Not taking their chances, they already sent our relief to the loan servicers so the moment the injuctions are lifted, the floodgates will open and everyone who got the approval email will have their loans forgiven, not much the courts can do to undo that. That's Plan A:

https://twitter.com/mjs_DC/status/1592222971581825025There are additional backup plans to get relief to students, for example they could technically put all of us in an Income Driven Payment plan where we pay $1 and the governmernt pays the rest and boom, loans forgiven. Or everyone is doing an hour of public service and now we're all technically covered by PSLF. There are so many legal avenues, I just don't see the reason to be pessimistic about it.

Post the email you got. You don’t have to apply to get relief because done people will be refunded for payments during the pandemic.

WHAT IF I'VE ALREADY PAID OFF MY STUDENT LOANS — WILL I SEE RELIEF? If you've voluntarily made payments since March 2020, when payments were paused, you can request a refund for those payments, according to the Federal Office of Student Aid.
my last payment was march 2020 and it was a hefty amount so i think your sister, myself, and peeps in similar situations can get a full refund on that? i wasn't even paying attention to this s*** at all
