Chris Brown is undeniably an icon; incredibly talented, influential, and important to an entire generation that grew up on him
But we know his potential was squandered, due in large part to many public controversies that were his own fault
However; I would say the biggest hit to his potential was the lack of a great artist/producer dynamic, such as: MJ×Quincy Jones, JT×Timbo/Neptunes. He makes good music but there is clearly no guidance in his overall artistic identity, of which a great producer to define his sound would have helped greatly
True. CB is dope but very generic
Also doesn’t help that he went from lover boy to Tony Montana

- BRAVEGreat post. I wish a Timbaland or Pharrell took him under their wing like they did Justin and Ginuwine.
very true ithink the closest we got was kmac but it was shortlived tbh i doubt he'll get a close producer like jt mj as now he's on the 50track album vibe with pop rnb n trap not just rnb like id prefer o well
How many times do we have to say how much talent and unrealized potential Chris Brown has
Whenever Chris Brown actually locks in to write something that’s substantial rather than single-ready he comes out with dope s***
When his hearts fully into it, his pen gets significantly better. He’s a great potential, damn shame if he never fully utilizes his resources. He’d benefit from a Quincy like mentor in his life, I agree!
If Chris sat down with one of these producers he could make a classic. Instead, he’d rather drop 50 tracks with generic club anthems
op does bring up a good point about chris lacking in the overall artistic identity department though
He’s only 30, plenty of time for this
They’re saying the next album got breezy at his best

The hype they’re building is wild. So excited.

u say that but hes been in the game for 15 years and others had the mentor before they hit 25 to make that combo album i hope he does but i feel he'll coast and not change the formula

Is it gonna be another 70+ track album?

dude really be trying to claim blood

he's been putting out music for 14 years, i really don't think he has the desire to do that anymore
Another good post
