‘We were shocked’: RAND study uncovers massive income shift to the top 1%
The median worker should be making as much as $102,000 annually—if some $2.5 trillion wasn’t being “reverse distributed” every year away from the working class.
A full-time worker whose taxable income is at the median—with half the population making more and half making less—now pulls in about $50,000 a year. Yet had the fruits of the nation’s economic output been shared over the past 45 years as broadly as they were from the end of World War II until the early 1970s, that worker would instead be making $92,000 to $102,000. (The exact figures vary slightly depending on how inflation is calculated.)
Disgusting.
Idk how they kept the whole “40k-80k is middle class, 100k+ is upper class” gimmick going this long.
Unless your making at least 70k you can’t live anywhere near secure.
@op the average white man makes around 55k
Average black Marlon makes 44k
The notion of a “middle class” only happened due to FDR new dealism and the post world war 2 military man
It is possible to make 44k right now easy. But you would have to have a minimum of two jobs
I’m 25 and make 72K without bonus and i still feel broke, that’s how I know there’s a problem
My homie same age in investment banking morgan stanley in NY is making 140K base with a 100% matching bonus bruh that’s nuts

Making over 50k right now and honestly it’s not too bad. Now imagine if you get with a girl making around the same amount, now y’all making 100k
What’s better than 1 billionaire? 2
Live somewhere cheaper. Make more money.
Not true unless you working remotely. Most places with a cheaper cost of living is too account for the low quality of jobs and pay in that area. Moving somewhere cheaper usually involves a huge pay cut unless you are one of the few people who have the blessing of working remotely.
Cheaper COL does not equal better. I come from cheap Tennessee where it was a struggle to ever have much of anything because of terrible pay for most sectors in combination with natural rising COL.
Now I live in Denver with a much higher COL but I make way more money and have a lot more left over even with the more expensive bills.
It’s a lot more to it than just the COL so please don’t be naive and think that’s solves everything.

What’s considered minimum wage and where does it end? Retail/food service? Or simply anything without a degree?
