I was scouting for any alternative indie music at the time, just plowing through s*** album after s*** album and eventually stumbled upon them.
I’m a little too harsh about pinegrove so I’ll say this,
The ampersand album and mixtape 2 was peak pinegrove, in fact they are shining jewels in the underground rock world.
I ran into listening American Football, Tawny Peaks, Teen Suicide , Fourth Wonderers and a host of other bands around that time too, I think it was a golden era of underground bandcamp rock.
I feel like a lot of alternative rock is lacking that melancholy and pensiveness it used to have tbh. Then again the recording, mixing and mastering of this music has gotten a LOT better too, just miss that low fi rock era :(

If I wanted to get 🐱, I’d play American Football’s debut album.
Or Tawny Peaks if she’s already feeling me.

What are your fav bands/artists/albums/songs in that regard (melancholic pensive rock)? I love that sound. I love bon Iver and Coldplay for that too
