Roddy Ricch doesn't sound like Rod Wave.

Kodak Black doesn't sound like Yungeen Ace.

There's always examples to refute the argument the music sounds the same.

As for your specific examples, artists on no limit sounded like other artists in hip-hop even if they didn't sound like cash money.

Boosie sounded like UGK when he first started rapping. Baton Rouge and New Orleans treat each other like different states and that explains more of the difference. BR is more texas than Louisiana in a lot of ways.

Roddy is from LA, Rod Wave is from FLA. Not locals.

Kodak is from Broward County, Ace MOVED to Jacksonville when he was 10 or 11. Drill was already popping then.

Master P never sounded like Juvenile tho

And at that time, Pimp C was the hottest down south. Of course boosie was going to fw P

    smokepurpp
    lil xan
    lil tecca
    lil mosey

idk alot of these garbage rappers lol, you know what im talking about

all of those meme songs that charted.

Yeah and like I said after you said those guys were at the forefront for like 2 years, I disagree they were ever at the forefront. I dont even know what lil tecca or lil mosey looks like and I've never heard a record from any of those 4 artists. In 2017-2018, rappers who were at the forefront in hip-hop, to me were the following:
    Kodak
    Uzi
    21 Savage
    NBA Youngboy
    Moneybagg Yo
    Thug
    Gunna
    A Boogie

These artists were more popping and reflected the times a lot more.

My fault. I meant to say Roddy doesn't sound like Mozzy and Kodak/Rod Wave don't sound like Ace. I can name Foolio instead or Melly instead. Point still stands.

That's true P neevr sounded like Juvenile, but he did copy tupac shakur lmao. Baton Rouge being cousins with Houston/Dallas and boosie sounding like ugk means it's possible for diff cities to have similarities. It happens sometimes.

But the point you was trying to make about the creative formulas being alike ?

All those artists tried the "howling wolf sing sung formula"

Eh it's debatable. That era was when meme rap was its peak. All those garbage internet money dudes/ and also Cole Bennett s*** or whatever who blew up during that era were generally portraying a fake lifestyle or s***

regardless I disagree with this conversation generally because I don't think that this has much to do with the topic

Honestly I just prefer authenticity in rap, be yourself. Someone like Cole or Kendrick is a perfect example

Well my initial point was that there wasn't really an oversaturation like you suggested and then I just wanted to point out there have been instances of artists in the past sounding like other artists and copying their formula.

Leads to oversaturation but yo I feel you bro, new sounds being created from older sonic foundations are great but once it's being overdid we need new methods.

All you gotta do is look at the numbers during that time. I'm positive the average person back then would know a boogie over smoke purp. Youngboy over lil xan and those other dudes you named. Kodak black had bigger records than all the artists you named. I'll give you pump because gucci gang was a thing but it's not like his album sold a lot and he had real fans.

pop smoke was killed in like a nice neighbourhood in LA like it wasn’t even like it was when X was in miami it’s just scary this can happen whenever

it wasnt about the neighborhood it was about his social circles.

definitely the people who listen to Trav, Carti, Uzi and Sofaygo.

there’s like two types of hiphop fans

I listen to all those artists and street blues so I don’t think this comment is correct

The issue with these "hip hop fans" now is that they care more about image and authenticity over the ACTUAL music now. It's s***ty to see. I don't get it.

It’s over compensation for the 2015-2019 era where rappers who weren’t street niggas were rappin that street s***

Idk why people say s*** like this. That dont mean there was a wave or extreme development in it. Niggas named rappers from the past that didnt even flat out sing for an entire project like rod waves or do sht like mo3 this aint the same lmao
