I really liked the concept originally, how he was saying each season would be a different take on a detective story, even leaving the door open for a lighter buddy-cop comedy season at one point. while the show wasn't horrible after season 1 it felt like a rehash of what was already done so well. wouldn't mind a new direction for another season

Was it cary fukanaga’s input that made season 1 such a f***ing masterpiece?

S2 no joke has some of the dumbest dialogue ever that it ends up being funny.

Yep, this aspect is overlooked quite a bit when people talk about TD

I really don’t think so. I’ve read the script for the first episode and it’s pretty much the same thing as the final result. I think Pizzolatto needs time to write something great. It took him several years to write season one.

S1 only as good as it is cuz McCaughey and woody were so damn good in their parts

In some ways s2 was better, easily the most overly hated season I've seen in quite some time, ppl act like it's game of thrones season 8 level bad, f*** that

Vince Vaughn character frank was badass af and Colin Farrell killed it as well

And obv a plot involving higher ups that high isn't going to be a happy ending where everyone lives happily ever after lll

Always said season 2 was overhated

Well they both made some of the best stuff ever put on screen so I guess the unfair partnership worked out

But Pizzolatto was his boss. He was the creator/showrunner. I mean Chase was Winter and Weiner’s boss when they were working on The Sopranos.
