Hello,
someone I know broke her iPhone XR, the tactile went HAM and tried to unlock the phone by itself so many times, there's now a dreaded "connect to iTunes" message. Folks at the genius bar said the data is lost forever because the only way to access her phone is to format it.
Problem is, she's not tech savy and never made any backups/cloud saves. Every single photo of both her grandmas that died in the last year is on her phone. She has a really weird family that will shame her to death with that blunder. She's like, bordeline suicidal at the moment. I'd like to try to help her. Do any of you know of any way we could save her data ?
Wish I was joking.
JUST TO BE CLEAR SHE KNOWS HER PIN
if she has an icloud account it should automatically back up her photos
Sorry buddy the data on the phone is toast
Just gotta log in to iCloud and hope s***s there
The backup is on by default, doesn’t matter that she’s not tech savvy
Only question is if she used up the free 5 GBs
It's not cheap but these guys seem to be legit:

that won't help sadly
the data has been encrypted and now is sealed because it's forever paired to the hardware key on that phone
if she knew the pin and the screen wouldn't turn on they'd be able to recover it with this but there is nothing that can be done with no Pin
most OSes are designed this way so they can't be compromised by a backdoor
an iCloud Backup would be the only way around forgetting a Pin

She didn't forget the pin though!
Android fam stay winning

oh I see misread your post it's worth a try asking them maybe they have some method to recover it but I think once it's locked tho it's gone from my understanding
it's a security measure so people can't take people's phone and try and brute force the pin with many attempts but maybe there is some way to decrypt it since she has the pin
