so looks like you will need proof you revived the vaccine in order to do things like travel or enter sports games -
The Biden administration and private companies are working to develop a standard way of handling credentials — often referred to as “vaccine passports” — that would allow Americans to prove they have been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus as businesses try to reopen.
.
The effort has gained momentum amid President Biden’s pledge that the nation will start to regain normalcy this summer and with a growing number of companies — from cruise lines to sports teams — saying they will require proof of vaccination before opening their doors again.
.
Rucker said keeping vaccine credentials could help officials better understand coronavirus vaccination, including possible long-term side effects, if the data is connected with the health information exchanges that states maintain.

I have a few questions about this... what’s the point, if 80% of people eventually get vaccinated, of blocking others from entering places? surely the vaccinated people won’t develop any real severe symptoms anyway, right? the only people it would harm is the people who aren’t vaccinated, so what’s the point of this?
i’m not anti vax, anti mask or anything like that, i’ve taken COVID very seriously, but this is too much
this is the right way to go about it
but why?
vaccinated people don’t need to worry about severe symptoms correct?
so wouldn’t it only cause risk to people who aren’t vaccinated by choice?
also the fact that they would use the passport to track “potential long term side effects” of the vaccine is kind of weird as well, what long term side effects do they expect?
requiring being vaccinated it's something that's been here for a long time for example when travelling to certain countries or sending kids to school.

ideally everyone should be vaccinated but there are some people who have legitimate medical reasons for not taking vaccines, that's who the last 20% should be, not some dude who thinks the vaccine is a tracking device.
also vaccine passports aren't anything new. children need immunizations before they attend school and some countries require you to be vaccinated before you travel to them (i.e. parts of south america for yellow fever)
I think this is partially to speed up how quickly they can open businesses etc again. But that all depends on how quickly it is implemented. I don’t like it as a long-term idea though atm.
You guys know you have to get vaccinated for certain things before schooling/travel right?
If y'all don't stop posting articles with damn a paywall. Don't nobody got a NYT or Wash Post subscription..

Untill you get that percentage you can't open up everything unless you take precautions. So one of them is getting vaccinated. That in itself is fine by me. If you don't want to get vaccinated, get tested and show a negative test result instead.
And untill the entire world is done with vaccinating you'll face cases of corona because of travel. So yet again has to be to do stuff. As long as vaccination isn't the only requirement (meaning a test result is fine too) I don't have a single problem with it.

yeah i wouldn’t mind proving you’re negative with a test either, i actually think that’s a great idea to go about it. prove you’re either vaccinated or that you have a negative test
the whole “passport” idea seems really black mirror to me though
Good, Anti-Vaxxers in shambles.

Yea I don't get it unless you've been antivax beforehand
This isn’t anything new but ppl will still turn it into a conspiracy. Is it a failure on the part of American education? or the media? Social media? Probably a little bit of all three and some other supporting factors
Better have flu shot proof also now huh
Literally yes in certain places bro

I think that terminology isn't really fitting either, but it really depends on the implementation like I said to me. The Netherlands is arguing for an approach with the combination vaccination/test result. That's alright to me, however I do want to know who owns that data and what happens with it after * years.

Was never a thing in the US keep reaching
