Love when the games finale act takes place in space
Love when the rivals team up to defeat a greater evil, and itās 1000% better when they both survive and have a final clash at the end of it all.
Hate when the game answers the question of your rival being definitely weaker than you. Even when you beat them in a fight, thereās usually some silver lining to it like them holding back or having some verifiable disadvantage that makes you see them differently. Shadow has this the worst because he tells Sonic verbatim, āI think the ultimate life form⦠is you!ā And straight up DOES at the end of it. Itās like⦠why would you massacre your character like that, man? At least let him die with his dignity.
i hate when someone makes a universally beloved video game and then when they leave the company their replacement decides to kill the main character because subversion
I love good guy is actually the bad guy plot twists
Prime example: silent hill when you find out itās not longing James Sunderland has, itās f***ing ATONEMENT
CAUSE HE KILLED HIS F***ING WIFE

Dumbass.
Calling Neil the āreplacementā when he created the game and wrote the story
I like when the main character dies at the end of the story and then the post-game appearance/character is different to reflect what happened in the story (like RDR2 playing as John or ME: Shadow of War when Talionās abilities turn green instead of blue)
I hate when you win a boss fight and then a cutscene triggers where you lose anyway
Dumbass.

you can believe whatever lies you want but its an objective fact that neil has never produced quality without brucešÆ
Something that I really love thatās kind of rare these days is the main menu changing throughout the story
Final Fantasy XV is probably my favorite in recent memory

this is far from a trope

Cyberpunk and Ragnarok both have changing main menus

Kingdom hearts UI changing every world comes to mind
i really like grand spectacles and plot twists (good writing implied)
hate most happy endings and pretty tired of any cookie cutter plot outline that you can easily predict
Love me a sidekick comic relief character >>>
Daxter goated
Yeah, not a fan of humorous sidekicks cause they always have to butt in a joke at the most inappropriate times when a character is having a moment, and tend to have nothing to offer for personality or development aside from being āthe funny one.ā A balanced cast where everyone gets a gag here and there is much better imo.

Agreed. Most inconsequential happy endings without any compromise or sacrifice in the heroes end make me gag. But on the flip side, they can be very welcome for games predicated on misery and suffering, like the Souls games among others.
Predictable storylines are a waste of everyones time though.
the main theme playing during the final boss is an undefeated trope
Iām pretty sure Iām the only one who is relatively indifferent to this cause everyone else on the planet loves it

yeah if it's a real rewarding/earned type of happy ending it's cool. especially s*** through hardship and s***, but usually it's obvious and not really strugglin like that so it's just lame for me
