I’d argue that artists like Yung Pinch, XXX and Peep fall into the “alt” style, and they all maybe would have been in an Emo band had they grown up in the mid 2000s.

But instead, they grew up in an era were hip hop reigns supreme

Just look at the features they’ve had in their songs. Travis Barker, Green Day, etc. all these artists would not have been styled in the rap genre had they came to prominence 10+ years ago

We are seeing hip hop enter a “metamorphosis” now that it’s the biggest genre in the world, and I predict we will see it become even more pop. And pretty soon, hip hop will become the “cliche” “old head” genre of music like pop and alt rock has become.

I wonder what style of music will come next?

Yeah but they got their own side genre or whatever you wanna call it. Like their own pocket so it don’t really affect Hip Hop as a whole

Definitely winning for now, but the over saturation and meshing of genres will inevitably be it’s downfall.

Pretty soon hip hop won’t sound like hip hop anymore, and traditional sounding hip hop will sounded dated and “old school”, and what ever genre is born out of the hip hop genre mesh will be the new mainstream genre

Kinda like how blues / jazz went to r&b and hip hop

Yep and Odd Future were technically skater/alt kids themselves

They were one of the first to mesh styles like that

It'll still be around in one form or another. I don't think that has anything to do with your incorrect observation that scene kids doing hip-hop means hip-hop doesn't exist.

I didn’t say it doesn’t exist, I said it will fall out of prominence due to the meshing of genres. It’s happened to all main genres in the past
