The issue with American animation is that it forces itself to lighten everything for the kids or it tries super hard to be taken seriously and be edgy to let you know that it isn’t for kids

Anime is vastly superior overall because there are a ton of shows that just exist without caring about who their fanbase will be.

Batman The Animated Series might have aired on a children's network but it's really for anyone. Kids or adult it's just good stories first and foremost. Avatar and Regular Show too
