Good album but his prime imo was from Freewheelin-Blonde On Blonde. Would you consider it essential listening?

You're right. As a fan of Dylan though, I want someone who really wants to get into Dylan more to listen to more then just his prime and Blood On The Tracks. Because Oh Mercy, Time Out Of Mind and Love & Theft are all great late career albums.

Political World one of his best post ‘70s tracks
These are some of my personal favorites! Hope you enjoy @op getting into Dylan is a very rewarding experience fr
I wanna start with songs but I’m open to albums too
Some of my favourite songs are Hurricane, Lay Lady Lay, Tangled Up in Blue, Let Me Die in my Footsteps, Just Like a Woman, Simple Twist of Fate, Mama You Been On My Mind, Don't Think Twice It's Alright, I Shall Be Released, Knockin On Heaven's Door, Like a Rolling Stone, It's Alright Ma I'm Only Bleeding, Desolation Row, All Over Now Baby Blue, With God on Our Side, Queen Jane Aproximately, All Along the Watchtower, Tomorrow is a Long Time, Ballad of a Thin Man, Shelter From the Storm, Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands, You're a Big Girl Now, Not Dark Yet.
And that's still leaving so many out
Blood on the Tracks, Highway 61 Revisited and Bringing it all Back Home are the best three albums to hear first imo.

it doesn't include a lot of the things that make Bob great but at the same time it's totally a classic album.
His deep cuts are just as good as his essentials
But essentials are:
Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright
Simple Twist of Fate
Mr. Tambourine Man
Idiot Wind
It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue
Tangled Up in Blue

Man. His discography is so amazing
aight @op youre in for a real good treat but boy oh boy its p much impossible to pinpoint all of the essentials from him
to me, this track is the easiest entry point into Dylan's music. after six-minute singles, after songs about war and politics he had a phase of relatively easy-going country tunes that were both profound and musically amazing. this is one of the more popular ones, primarily because of its use in The Big Lebowski. I'd suggest going easy because his discography is to say the least vast
can't go wrong with this one, a very popular song and really just goes to show how masterful he is at making hits
and here's one not on any albums but I think it captures that sardonic and humorous side of Dylan very well. also a good entry point into his earlier stuff musically speaking
let me know what you think
