I ask this question because one of my professors was a former cop who served on the force for like twenty years
And its interesting cause this is the bay area which has some of the most racist cops in the state up there with the LAPD
But i truthfully dont understand what it is to drive a black person to become a cop. Like it's no secret that most arrests are disproportionately skewed towards black people so what is it that drives you to want to get paid to arrest your own people en masse
One thing I could think of is if they have a history of previous relatives being in law enforcement or something similar
Let's ask Rick Ross.
Nah but, on a serious note, it actually makes tons of sense. Black cops will generally have more sympathy towards inner city Black people than White cops and can spark positive changes in law enforcement.
Black cops will also be more likely to live in the same community while interacting with many of the same people on a daily basis.
Black cops can also influence non-Black cops to back away from racial profiling methods and use better measures to handle crime.
There's many reasons.
we need more black cops
f*** wrong with op
why?
the police system is still inherently racist all that would accomplish is setting more black people against each other

you think a black cop would immediately become indoctrinated into racism? because that doesnt seem to make much sense

As someone who wanted to be in Law Enforcement, Money.
(Still might do it.. )
Seriously, because it was looked at as an “Honorable” position.
Thinking we could cause some good, help people, actually Serve and Protect.
What causes a black man to join the military?
And legacy.
Legeacy is something people tend to leave out.
I wonder this myself. Speaking from experience, my old neighbor became a cop strictly for the money. He didn’t give af about anything you did when he was off duty

Unfortunately, all of this is wishful thinking. But I do believe that people are motivated by these reasons nonetheless
What causes a black man to join the military?
Not really comparable
You can join the military without being a combatant or having an effect on peoples lives.
A lot of military mfs never leave the states
F*** i look like talking to a cop
you learning from him already
