so many great albums came out that decade it's so hard to pick
i think it might be Is This It tbh
Is This It because it's great and also the most popular one
American Idiot
indie?

easily one of the most influential albums to come out that decade for sure
i'd say Turn on the Bright Lights too. it definitely laid the groundwork for The Killers' discography, especially the debut
Objectively it’s definitely Is This It
Funeral if we talking personal
Funeral is up there for sure i love that album, but i prefer Neon Bible slightly more. that album is just pure perfection

No Cars Go may be a top 10, top 5 song of all time for me
Can’t forget the brits
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm another good one
easily one of the most influential albums to come out that decade for sure

it also feels like it kinda encapsulates the way rock essentially just became "indie" even after the style(s) became more mainstream and essentially lost the original meaning. in early 00s there were still obviously non-indie huge rock bands but i think as the decade ended those faded out and in the 2010s and now the good rock mostly falls under the indie umbrella or alternative at the very least
Is This It doesn't really sound anti-mainstream and it's also pure rock enough to be a good broad answer even though there are indie rock albums I enjoy more. its the sound of pure unadulterated rock for the new century, calling back to the past as well as into the future
No Cars Go may be a top 10, top 5 song of all time for me
easily their best song imo
s*** gets me hyped every time i hear it
