Tbh it's the first show that reminded people of there actual lives
Most people are d***s and this show didn't always have to show that the protagonists were "the good guys"at the end... it really changed the game.
Also the continuity of the show mattered alot more than most sitcoms. That was pretty refreshing.
It was then first sitcom on tv that was actually insightful.
The jokes were generally about more subtle things in society rather then the big more talked about subject that sitcoms latch on to. And it wasn’t afraid to have everybody in the cast be scumbags. It was dark for its time.
Before Seinfeld most sitcoms wild corny and always had to end on a good night. Seinfeld was darker and almost always ended on a joke were someone got f***ed over or had lived with the consequences of their actions. So many later sitcoms bit that style and now it seems played out, Seinfeld was the first to do it big.
I never watched Seinfeld but I did recently get into curb your enthusiasm and this makes sense
