I'm in audio school and the other week we were just listening to some grammy-nominated mixes on thousand dollar speakers and it got me thinking. Lots of people say that "The Chronic" is one of the best-mixed hip hop albums of all time, but trap seems to have a lot of bad mixes in it.
I can't really think of a trap song where i'm like "damn, this mix is clean."
Any nominees?
great question
y'all keep throwing names out here but u not saying why the mixes are good
you didn’t ask us to, you just said nominate albums

I'd consider Rodeo a trap album. Trap is beyond the lyric content. It's a sound now

Bainz and Alex Tumay did they thing
Voice of the Heroes is my favorite engineering on a trap album. Everything sits perfectly together; the drums are so unbelievably crisp and punchy without dominating the mix, the vocals are super clear, and the melodic elements in the instrumentals are bright and rich.
I think the most impressive accomplishment of these mixes is that the vocals don’t sound like they were recorded perfectly 100% of the time, and a lot of the beats are just loops and trap drums. Some of the songs are staggering when you max that volume out.
