I know the answer is "money" but let's go deeper than that.
how the f*** is this s*** legal? Schools and counselors and etc feed you this "follow your dream" mantra until you get to college and realize that following your dreams will get you a job at Target after Graduating.
For example someone wants to be a writer theyll end up going to college for writing or English, only to realize that careers in that field are worth less than dogshit and the degrees are worth even less than that
What the f*** is the point of having 100s of degrees or majors when the only ones that mean something are Med, CompSci, Engineering, etc. Niggas are indebting themselves just so they can work for Soros or Bezos?
Im not tryna say college is a scam but come on its shady as f*** that if you dont peep game you just end up with an expensive piece of paper and crippling debilitating debt
man just said the entire arts scene is worthless
neat

Thats not at all what I said
And even then you dont need an art degree to be an artist

not really much of a reach is it
OP is correct there are a lot of degrees out there that are a complete scam designed to keep the wheels turning on the gigantic debt machine that is the united states of america

The way modern institutions handle arts is absolutely terrible

Those are pretty much the only careers that you need a degree for
If you want to be a film maker like me you dont need a film degree or an education in film
You can study film theory independently and PA on sets to make connections
u damned if you do damned if you don't.
you major in a "worthless degree" you in debt.
you major in STEM, the market once you graduate into will/is oversaturated asf. Homies that graduated and doing a bunch of coding s*** have said as such.
That's why errbody tryna push trade school on niggas now lol.
you could also say you dont need a degree for a CS career
just self-teach and do projects

To call an education in those areas worthless tho?
Like we can talk about how they don't lead into profitable jobs, but that does not take away from the worthiness of an education regardless.
degrees in philosophy and s*** are absolutely not worthless
but they aren't one of those things you can get and just mindlessly fall into a job in
it takes genuine interest in the field
it isn't a scam at all though
education system broken in general and be more about making connections than actually learning
you could also say you dont need a degree for a CS career

Nah you not getting a tech job without stem degrees unless you have at least a decade of experience

they can totally lead to profitable jobs though
the path just isn't as clearly defined as with something like becoming a programmer, you gotta figure it out yourself
