It IS supposed to jump out of your speakers - not jump out and put the knees on your back.
wtf even is this statement
im not sure how much the general public really cares
they don't care but they notice it. anybody with functional ears can hear how s*** the quality on astroworld was, don't need technical knowledge for that
Look at gorgeous bro 😂 s***s ridiculous
Ppl who hail this as one of the greatest albums (it is) be the same ppl who complain about mastering on other s***
boi-1da said himself in an interview he don't give a f*** if his kicks clip. And he got some of the hardest drums in the business.
you just gotta do what you want and f*** with your sound. The audience will adjust. Knxwledge's "unique mixing" is part of why people like him.
To be fair boi 1da is not a mix engineer lmaoo 6

no they don't man what lol.
the only thing on astroworld that people noticed was nav's verse. and that was because the volume was legit low as hell on his s***.
from my totally amateur POV, mbdtf sounds better to me than a lot of more contemporary albums which really lack punch! like i think mixing sounds kinda poor again to my untrained ears in a few thug and YSL albums in particular, like everything's just getting lost rather than being distinct and clean

normie friends with no musical knowledge told me the sounds are harsh and sound muddy
people notice it come on

But idk.
And maybe this is just cause 808s and subwoofers were always like the thing back home. I just love the bass lol.

well you used charles hamilton lol. he don't even be eqing or compressing his vocals on these mixtapes.
But guess what.
He still has a fanbase in spite of this. lol.

he could have a bigger one if he cared about mixing
people don't know s*** about music theory or mixing but it still influences our enjoyment subconsciously
we don't have to be aware of these technical concepts to be aware of their effects on us

If this was true, Tyler wouldn't have a fanbase after cherry bomb.
If this was true, how come people like navy, mavi, and mike continue to have an audience.
If this was true, how tf DOOM managed to have one of the most successful careers as an underground hip hop artist?
Dynamics are a fundamental part of musicality
At the same time...it really depends on the music. For rap what matters most is how well its mixed but the dynamics I coundnt care less. Now with Rock music and whatever hell yea they add to the experience

try playing a piano without any knowledge of scales and tell me how that sounds
try becoming a superstar with an iphone microphone
tyler talks about harmonies and chords all the time, you think he's just doing s*** randomly? there's methods to cherry bomb and aesthetic choices in the mixing
same with the lo-fi sound
S*** even my friend who's kinda a casual listener noticed how bad Drake songs sounded in his whip
