Provided if they’re not busy, but you’d be surprised at how well you’re able to develop your communication and social skills through this method. It’s becoming a daily habit to grab something from Starbucks before heading off to work and personally, always do my best to strike up a conversation with the worker. Even feels good that I’m treating them with respect, given how much society (and prob some from this site) love to s*** on fast-food workers. In reality they arguably work harder than most mfs from the Office ya feel me.
Start with smiling at them, then talk about anything, whether it be about how their morning is going, favorite hobbies, music, etc. if they’re not doing anything at all, feel free to dive into deeper topics.
Something I wanted to share with y’all
I always open with “So, have you considered unionizing your workplace?”
lol
This is very true
I also feel like you should try to make basic conversation with almost anyone thats not a passerby. A simple “hows your day” in the elevator, the gym, etc can spark a lot of conversations
nah I'm cool. just give me my drink and let me go on with my day
Waste of life

Maybe that’s just you
OP as someone who’s worked in retail and had to cover tills I can categorically tell you to STFU. Most people just want to get through their work days not strike up a banal conversation with some randomer. If you are going to strike up some sort of casual relationship with a regular it needs to happen organically

retail and service industry not the same at all when it comes to this
I've got to be in the top ~1% most extroverted people on the planet but I'm pretty sure baristas do not want to strike up idle chatter with customers. You should be kind and respectful when the opportunity arises though.
When the worker is bad asl

Some people might clown OP for this but he’s 100% right. Too many people walk around with their head down and their airpods in, miserable with no social skills.
Basic human interaction will make you happier. You don’t need to start asking people their life story, just literally say hello how are you.
Worst case, you get a “good” and you move on with your day. Best case, you may make a new friend or a career connection
Waste of life
hope pointless small talk with strangers is fulfilling bro
I'm cool on that tho!

Only small talk if you can’t create conversation
