🚨 11 years since Skyrim (Nov. 2011)
🚨 9 years since GTAV (Sept. 2013)
Where were you then & how do you feel now?
🚨 I was in High School - class of 2014
2011/2012: Sophmore year spent doing school as i stayed at a friends house to go a school in a different district. After school would play skyrim smoking weed on the weekdays & on the weekends playing Skyrim & trying to hit up girls. S/o other classics we were playing that year such as NBA 2k12, Mortal Kombat & Halo Reach.
2013/2014: Senior year i wasnt really playing games that much at this point (although i didnt hate them or anything like that), it wouldnt be until 2015 i got back into gaming with the PS4, but GTAV was still part of the life in a way. At this point it was just about classes, parties & girls for me, but the occasional days we would ditch school we would usually go to a homies place near the campus. Smoke weed & play his GTAV and/or 2k14 while waiting to hangout with others that also ditched, or until they got out of school. I later beat it myself on the PS4 port two years later.
Still waiting for the next sequels, but its crazy how much both companies were pumping out at the time compared to now & how much faith people like me lost in them since then.
Probably the most mainstream known games then & for a long time along with Minecraft & COD, but Skyrim & GTAV were truly generation defining for millions of people. Crazy how many re-releases both titles get endlessly, would have never imagined they'd be reissued like that without any proper sequels at this point.
I was 14/15 & 17 then, now 25. Not excited for the sequels but still interested/curious
Playing GTA V for the first time at my friend's house was crazy, seeing how you could steal the private jets blew my mind, same dude bought me Skyrim for Christmas
Now he's a different person and we don't talk, turned out to be an a****** though
Bought GTA V in December of 2014, still remember to this day how me & my dad drove all the way down to this guy's house to pick his copy (it was a resell copy) and going back home as the happiest kid alive....
Telling everyone in school you got a copy of GTA V was crazy, Everyone came down to my house that evening to play it....
Can't believe it's been almost 10 years now, nostalgia hits hard every time I play that game, just driving around....
Its so weird because if you were in middle school or high school when these two gigantic games came out - the games themeselves are like a time capsule.
Both are still vastly popular & known to this day. Its like the games/series' stayed still as we kept moving.
Never played an Elder Scrolls before, decided to give Skyrim a shot in my summer holidays after 8th grade. It was like crack Would play 12 hours a day, only stopping if my Xbox froze on a loading screen
Spring of 10th grade one of the happiest times of my life Getting high all day bumping NWTS and playing GTA 5
2010-2015 was a peak in human existence Everything just fell off a few years after that
gta 5 went to the night release with my uncle bc u had to be 18 (i was 14 in high school) to get the game and then i got hte special edition for 80 euros and then i went home around 1am home i played untill 3am and was a very happy boy
Was a freshman in college when Skyrim dropped. Played through the entire game on the school laptop they gave us, touchpad and all.
Wasn't really gaming when GTAV dropped.
gta v i remember being on ktt forums watching the first gameplay get leaked on vine and sitting in irc chat waiting for some guy to rip the dvd so i could pirate it on my jtag xbox a week early
I was in 5th grade when Skyrim dropped and I had to wait until I got on the bus after school to hear about what my friend had done the day before in the game. I didn't play it myself until like 2013 but I was completely enamored for a while and spent the whole summer playing it.
GTA V I was in 7th grade and I remember YouTube was only GTA videos for what felt like weeks, my friend got it and I would go over to his house to play it every chance I got. I was so obsessed that I held onto PS store cards for a year and bought a digital copy in early 2015; I would delete it every day when my parents came home and then download it again at night so they wouldn't know I had it
High School. I was running Skyrim at sub 30 frames on my s***ty at the time laptop, enjoyed the hell out of it. Wasn't playing GTA V back then, I still had my PS2 for my GTA itch
I was 11 when Skyrim dropped. I was super excited for it and was disappointed I wouldn't get to play it on release day but, I came home from school and my dad got it for me
I played it non stop for months.
I was 13 when GTA V dropped. I didn't get it on release but about a week later. My sister and niece was visiting for the first time in a few years so I guess he was in a good mood and got it for me and my cousin to play. Good times
Fresh man in high school for the GTA V release. Didn't own the game then, but remembered peers complaining about how the online portion of the game wasn't available yet.
think i was coming out of middle school when Skyrim dropped, got that pretty early and no lifed it for a while lol.
i was super hyped for GTA V so i along with my friends had it preordered and played it day 1. i had a lot of fun with the campaign but never really touched online or anything.
haven’t played either game in a little under a decade
Skyrim i got it for christmas 2011 along with gears of war 3 and i think battlefield 3 premium edition on the xbox 360
ended up playing skyrim for most of 2012 lol. that save i did so much on its crazy....
gta 5... now man that might have beenn my most hyped game of all time. all 2011-2013 looking up all bits of info on the game.... then the day finally came... i still remember the date. Sept 17 2013. Got hhome and it arrived via amazon.. but had to wait for my dad to get home to give me the power cord to the xbox cause in high school i was only allowed to play on weekends so he allowed me to play for an hour that night. Man that was the greatest hour ever the intro and everything.
then the next weeks i played the game bascially non stop on the weekends. even 100% it before onnline came out. Truely an amazing first experience
School from 2011/2012 never really played Skyrim but everybody else was into it so i saw allot of gameplay and what not. Finished school around the time Channel Orange & The Dark Knight Rises dropped .. what a summer
September 2013 i started my second year of college but dropped out within the first few days
September 13 was an INSANE month for media
GTA V release
Final Breaking Bad episodes
NWTS
Dream-chasers 3
Kissland
20/20 part 2
B.O.A.T.S 2
Had already done Morrowind and Oblivion so my hype for Skyrim was stratospheric and all I was doing in life was trapping so that allowed for a lot of time to immerse myself considered that the zenith of open world exploration until Elden Ring came out probably. Still something goofy about the voices and dialogue and accidental memes I find very charming.
GTAV was awesome but also kind of came and went and the world is so devoid of interesting things that I've never had an urge to revisit
Freshman year of college. I remember getting Skyrim and it being so buggy that I accidentally beat the final boss and saw the credits roll and was like wtf? Then googled that it was a bug. I put like 200 hours into the game after that. Even did the glitch with the god dog companion.
GTAV I was in my last semester of college and I remember being sucked into the game and even 100% all the missions on PS3 waiting for the online to drop.
