  • We all know Black Friday is around the corner and your boy is looking to upgrade from his iPhone SE 2020 model. Currently this phone is still decent, but the camera and battery life is quite underwhelming. Hardly use social media, watch YT on an occasion, and mostly play music, though I do use the camera on the occasion. In short I don’t use my phone too frequently

I’ve been thinking of purchasing new version of SE or making a big jump to 13 mini. With 13 mini I pay $170 more but get significantly better screen and camera, and slightly better battery life. All in smaller form factor while having bigger screen.

    I’d appreciate y’all’s input

This is probably not the answer you want but I said f*** it 2 months ago and hopped on a Verizon promotion for the iPhone 14 Pro Max and I do not regret it one bit. It is a fun and luxurious feeling piece of tech to have around and I highly recommend it. Go caseless and get AppleCare instead for optimal experience

You’ve got a few options, two of which you’ve mentioned. If you’re a fan of the 2020 SE form factor and only use your phone for light tasks, then go for the 2022 SE. Though I think most reviewers have been saying that the battery life is no better than the last generation, even with the improved A15 chip which requires less power.

If a new 13 Mini is $170 more, have you tried looking at refurbished? Apple Certified Refurbished has deals where you can save that kinda money on a reconditioned handset. So still get a 13 Mini, but pay no more than you would for a new 2022 SE.

Another option is going for a 12 Mini. Between the 13 and 12 there’s barely any differences except the usual (processor, minor camera changes, colours etc.).

Naw I have no desire to get refurbished, looking to get the phone completely new. Still appreciate your advice though

    That’s understandable, personal preference.

I got the same phone as yours and I'm looking for an upgrade but ngl I might consider switching to an Android as humiliating as it sounds
But the lifespan of an iPhone does not match its price range imo, I've been an iPhone user since the 4 and I like to keep my phones for as long as possible so I went from the 4 to a 5s to a 6s to an SE 2020 with like 3 years minimum between each phone. Maybe a Samsung Z Fold is the move?

u gonna get a new phone and it’s gonna become obsolete in 2 years since usb c is already highly adapted in society. unless you really need a new phone right now i would hold on to it and wait until september
