So you say that people who hate liberals are, in some part, people who agree with progressive thinking and let's say... liberal values... but hate how US Liberals are putting that into work?

Protesting only to protest, fight against people not causes and trying to fix important problems by proposing solutions that would make the situation even worse?

So people that say "I want to fight climat change but not in that way"?

in a sense yes. liberal values in terms of what they say they stand for

and exactly. they'll claim to understand the scale of the problem, or say they support a thing like universal healthcare, but they'll never work to implement it.

and then just being a socialist there are many issues where i think liberals just plain out suck.

    most issues actually.

Majority of people fall into that liberal spectrum whether they lean left or right a little.

Liberalism for most part is the lesser of two evils when brought up against conservatives; however, the liberal elite have long since indulged in policies that hurt mostly working class, minorities & foreign citizens.

They’ve been responsible for pushing their capitalist agenda through the use of imperialism and the military industrial complex.

Liberalism has tricked everyone into believing that the left wing controls all media etc or that republicans and democrats are different.

They are against progressive policies and continue to keep the working class down with awful people like Obama, Biden, Hillary etc. Warmongering, selfish evil capitalists.

White feminist liberals are one of the worst groups people. They don’t seek to actually bring ethnic minority women to the table (they bully them) but they’d rather take the place of white men.

  • May 17, 2020

People just don’t like a certain type of “liberal” - the OTT twitter loudmouth - and don’t seem to be able to understand that 100s of millions of people would probably fit the liberal box and 99% of them are nothing like that

People generate these opinions on large groups of people because they are probably ignorant and have forgotten what it's like to not know all of the information that they do know.

Almost my entire family is conservative, and they know I'm left leaning. They all still think that I'm very smart and we can have in depth and mature conversations. But that is the difference in someone who holds a belief because they believe it is logical as opposed to someone who holds their belief to antagonize a stranger on the internet.

People on the internet sling s***. I say, f*** em.

Because the juxtaposition of American Conservatism are Liberals and these are the main ideologies of the two domineering parties in this country.

Conservatives make fun of Liberals in the same way that Liberals make fun of Conservatives. Its just what they do, and every sensitive esque or """""moral degenerate"""" esque policy gets attributed to American liberals. Example: LGBTQ rights or compliance with peoples pronouns is very jarring to some individuals, even most Liberal claiming individuals, and it ends up being used as a cudgel.
Its whatever though. Thats just how it is

Currently, socialists are joining in because theyre currently trying to usurp the Democratic party policy positions. Which is funny because calling Liberals Socialist is a common Conservative esque meme. But by further debasing the party you can further pull members to your side. However, I assure you that nothing would change if the dichotomy was Republicans vs Socialists(Democrats). You would see the same jokes and the same political incrementalism we've seen in perpetuity.

AKA, Synopsis, who is pretending that Socialists are a monolithic group who all support pro minority issues when you can probably pin point several white socialists who dont believe in intersectionality and view all problems from the lens of class.

Tl;dr, its easy to make fun of any group, especially when theyre prevalent or seem to be prevalent in large numbers, so you shouldnt worry about it.
Its good to remember that you are an individual so you shouldnt really care tbh.

Liberals in the States are a center-right ideology that overcompensates for that by tripling down on woke identity politics.

Liberals get lumped together with progressives/leftists, but the divide between progressive and liberal is larger than the divide between liberal and moderate conservatism, imo.

I think you’re associating “progressivism” with “leftism” or socialism. In modern speech progressive speaks very little of economics and is more focused social issues, so it’s what the average American thinks of when they hear liberal. American liberals and leftists generally agree on social issues (at least within America, not so much about the world at large), so they can both be called progressive, but they vastly differ on the economic matters that influence those social issues. While I wouldn’t say liberals and conservatives agree economically, they are indeed much closer to each other than liberals and leftists when it comes to that

Of course. But it's done in bad spirit when it's done symbolically like this. I identify as a progressive. If I were to try and make a case for selecting a black woman as Supreme Court Judge, it'd look something like citing studies, statistics, etc of black women being one of, if not THE most educated group in the US. Then I'd make the case that intelligence and intellectual honesty are important qualities in leadership positions. Then I'd make the case that black culture, and black women (by proxy but ALSO done deliberately) are stigmatized, discriminated against, hunted, etc and how this isn't JUST damaging to black people specifically but that the harm associated with doing this has negative effects on the rest of the country. Then I'd cite studies, statistics and anecdotes of black women's voices being muted/their concerns dismissed in hyper-important scenarios like health check ups with their doctors, and broaden that a bit into how this too permiates into other critical areas that have wider societal implications. And that how again this is due to a devoid of black women being in positions of leadership throughout the country. And how addressing this helps not only black households but the entire country, both near-term and long-term. Then bridge all of that and more into black woman as SCJ = obvious decision to make for the betterment of the country; a solution to the problem at hand.

Biden and his many handlers in the Democratic Party show both in rhetoric and by the type of like-minded people they're looking at (Adams, Harris, the not-black Klobuchar) that first of all, all of this is secondary to the primary goal of keeping a general status-quo as far as their influence and grip on power as a class are concerned. And that the optics of having a woman SCJ and/or VP might be a sufficient-enough response to a wider systemic devaluation of women in general, and WOC in particular. Think of this as window dressing, or a spritz of fabreeze after a year of not wearing deodorant or bathing.

Liberals look to the Democratic Party, and now begrudgingly Biden as leaders.

I don't think progressivism is limited to social issues. "Progressive economics" in my mind is an implementation of potential solutions to the increasing trend of wealth inequality. How you can go about making that happen is varied, with some solutions being an embrace of socialism and others being modeled around capitalism, but working towards this end is what I think of as "progressive economics"

op the democratic socialist in this thread are trynna separate themselves from the liberals and provide a delusional story that creates an iota of separation between the two

they are one in the same. when we make fun of liberals, we are definitely making of synoposis
