  • Kinda a shower thought, but with the rise of BeReal dialing back social media to a barebones app of truly just sharing yourself in the moment via photos, why does it seem that there is a vacuum of platforms that will basically allow people to share what they’re listening to and obviously discover new music through. Anecdotally, seems l always see people screenshotting music and sharing it on IG or Twitter, so just seems like something that could have potential. I guess SoundCloud was that to a degree, but that has fell off a cliff as far as userbase goes (even though I still frequent it). that? One of my biggest gripes of Apple Music is they don’t put enough effort in their social media aspect of the platform, and leaves a lot to be desired. I’m not sure about Spotify or other DSPs as I’ve honestly never used them. Anyone else yearn for something like this?

Whoever is in charge of the AM really leaves a lot to be desired. From removing the colorful UI, the lack of social tools, and things of that nature. They easily have the userbase to make it worthwhile imo and would probably draw others over to it

I mean, people follow me and I follow them on AM

I can see what they’re listening to and vice versa

I think that part of AM can be accentuated. There’s a lot of low hanging fruit that can be addressed by them for sure.

Lastfm has the potential they just have weak marketing

the others tab is pretty out of the way. feel like they'd have to strike a balance as to not bombard us with the social part

I look for something like this semi-regularly when I get bored and honestly, the best we’ve got right now are traditional forums and discord servers. But I think there’s a lot of potential for someone to fill the gap.

Bopdrop literally tried to do this and is pretty clearly not catching on. If BeReal got an integration to add a song directly along the lines of IG stories, it’d be a wrap. Left-field suggestion, but if Bandcamp added something like this it could be a game changer - especially if it required you to have added that song to your library, i.e. actually bought it and funded the artist

First things first you gotta have a system in place to keep stans in check lol any Social music app I feel would be ruined by stans like twitter.
