Taylor Swift situation got me thinking...

like if your favorite artist decided re-record their albums, there’s bound to be some cadences or annunciations that are just not going to be the same

could you really never listen to the original version you fell in love with again?

imagine if Kanye re-recorded the college dropout, are we, as stans, never listening to the OG again?

Taylor is putting “Taylor’s version” in the title of all her re-recorded songs so her stans feel a moral obligation to only listen to the version she gets paid from

yes re-record jesus is king and make it good i might listen

A re-recording of Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine with Jon Brion would be interesting because of the history behind the album's release. It's been teased in the past so it could still happen. The leaked Jon Brion version floating around sucks and even he admitted that it wasn't the most up-to-date material he had

    Other than that, no

Absolutely. This will sound corny but I really wish to hear Drake sing some of his older Take Care stuff. His voice has gotten much stronger and refined. Yes, they do wonders in the studio to his voice, but I really want to hear his older stuff in a similar fashion.

    Ye def shouldn’t do this.
However PJ Harvey could do this with Dry and Is this desire.

I agree Drake’s voice both rapping and singing has improved dramatically

only if your voice hasn't gotten worse. I'd listen to a re-recorded version of Willow Smith's debut album Ardipithecus just bc her voice has grown so much I think it would be better. or like Chloe x Halle's early work. but for the most part no I would not

This is a good thread. I think it'll be interesting to listen to those, it's like a remaster, but I think I'd have bias towards the original

  • Feb 14, 2021

I'd much rather them record new music

  • Nope. Create new a body of work
I don't want to hear re-recorded versions of TPAB, GKMC, SX80, Damn.

twin fantasy is a great example of this.

  • Feb 14, 2021

yes re-record Thank Me Later and make it good i might listen

  • idk about certain albums, but since you said CD in OP, i’d hate if he redid it. it’s an old soulful record and it feeling a bit dated just adds to the album imo

  • Feb 14, 2021

Hell no, energy not the same. If you ever heard those re-record DMX tracks you'd know.
