Ye has been relatively quiet since "Donda 2" was released in February, but a new rumors suggest he's gearing up for a big comeback—and TikTok could/should be a key part of it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, West has met with executives from the social media app in the past, and was considering ways to capitalize on its popularity.

For the uninformed boomers, TikTok, which is owned by Chinese tech giant ByteDance, is a short-form video platform that's especially popular with young people. It's been downloaded more than 1 billion times, and in the U.S. it's been used by more than 60 percent of people aged 13 to 34.

Ye's no stranger to the digital world, of course. He was one of the first celebrities to launch his own blog, and he's been active on Twitter since 2009, and more recently, Instagram. But TikTok is a different beast, and it could be a smart move for the rapper to try and tap into its audience.

He's already shown an interest in the app. Fairly recently, he shared a video of his daughter North singing along to a TikTok song.

If he does decide to make a move into TikTok, he won't be alone. Other artists, including Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Dua Lipa, have already jumped on the bandwagon. (edited)

it would be pretty hypocritical for Ye to cosign and profit off an app he doesn't want his children to be on

Ye is not hypocritical for profiting off of TikTok just because he doesn't want his kids using it. Kanye is an adult, and his target base is more of older teens to adults. TikTok is a platform that can be used by anyone, but it is geared more towards a younger audience. Kanye is entitled to his opinion on what platforms his kids should and shouldn't use, and he is also entitled to profit off of any platform he chooses.
