Additionally, the dislike field in the YouTube API will be removed on December 13th, 2021, removing any ability to judge the quality of content before watching.
Wait what, they will remove the Dislike button?

Wait what, they will remove the Dislike button?
nah it will never go away they're just removing the ability for people that aren't Google to be able to see it
right now there is something in the YouTube API to request that data even tho the number is gone it's still there under the surface for now
the creators of the videos will be able to see it but only their videos no other videos will work after that date

no, as neon said they're removing the visibility.
so on dec 13 your plugin won't work anymore

So I have to waste time to see if the content is worth watching.

this is the same extension that op posted, it's just the github for their project
yes it actually will work but it won't be as accurate, it will kinda be like an archive so the dislikes will be there but it won't be live
they're working on ways of making it more accurate by collecting data from users, creators and a few other ideas have been thrown around for scrapping more data
Has anyone else ever heard of a “coordinated attack on channels” using dislikes to stop the owner from profiting from the algorithm?
Until youtube made this change ive never heard of anything like that.
But besides that,
I personally won’t watch or not watch something based on what the majority thought of it, i’d always just base it on the content, and leave if it wasnt what i wanted

yeah I had never heard of dislike bombing videos until all this
just seems like people at YouTube and the Mainstream channels don't like getting 90% thumbs down
I normally don't look at the thumbs but if it's a certain kinda video like a product demo or a fix for a problem I will look and then go into the comments if I see lots of thumbs down

looking at comments has always been a better judge of the situation for me too.
But i guess some people would skip that effort if the like count was overly skewed. Hence the seen frustration.
