Zeuhl was started by a French band -MAGMA- who wanted to combine opera, classical jazz and rock together in a alien language invented by the leader. (Everything I said is true, there is no embellishment) The band leader was that crazy to create a movement. It was a mythology band that really meant a lot to France.
Someday I will cover Magma, it's a lot to go through. Right now I'm introducing my drop fam to the bands that catch my ear in Zeuhl.
Zeuhl is meant to be break the chains-the barriers and follow with the ethos of what Magma taught you. A lot of great musicians formed were birthed from this concept. There are no real rules in Zeuhl, you could use the language that Magma used, but you don't have to. You can use whatever instruments you want to, you can have singers or not. It's just the spirit of that energy if you feel it in you to move to that area.
ESKATON is unique because the main focus the dual keyboards aggressive propulsive electric bass and these 2 operatic women singers who sing the melodic lines and accompany them at the appropriate times. There are some touches of guitar and violin on a few tracks.
There are so many dope moments you could chop s*** from them. Which im guessing madlib and dilla probably did.
ESKATON started in 1970 and they needed to evolve before they got their record deal. They went through some alterations & renovations.
Finally in 1979 they released a single and then a album followed shortly. They only lasted 3 lp's but people look at them from France fondly. In the mid 80's they said that was enough and moved on with their life. They did reform in 2017 and release another album but this one doesn't have the vocalists.
Hopefully you will get something from Eskaton. I know I did. This drop includes all 3 lp's -deluxe editions with bonus tracks plus artwork in the download. The links are at the top if you scrolled too fast.

Eskaton is like a seed from that group , really unique because it’s women singing instead of men in this type of sound
instead of singing alien language they said it’s francais for them 😎
their logo makes it look like it is going to be metal but it’s all fender rhodes and electric bass
