If you are new to my drops, it's simple - we explore together with many projects you would take a lot of time & energy to find.
This particular series is all about the greatest guitarists who are presently with us or were once with us.

Eddie Fisher was born in Little Rock, AR. He made his way in the world by working with another legendary guitarist: Albert King. This kinda interested me because his music is a bit different.

His first album Is what I would call traditional, following in the spirit of Wes Montgomery & Grant Green. It's straight forward. 1 side is all Fisher originals & the other is standards.

If you know pop standards, he does a really nice version of Shadow of your smile. It's solid entry

Now the second lp is where everything changes. That's where things get muddy & more distorted with wah pedal. this is also when guitar afficiandos started taking notice that he wasn't just going to fit within the lines. Second lp reminds mea little bit David Axelrod, Meters, Funkadelic. It's kinda psychedelic, this is the first track off this one.
That isn't to say that he doesn't. have that spirit of Wes & Grant on here. But's it's a different band and a different project. I like it a lot.
This is the first track from it "Jeremiah Pucket"

The third lp continues you with Fisher being in a jazz funk, more tighter with the rhythms. With influences like Sly Stone & this time with horns and moogs, clavinet and sparse vocals here & there. I would say more R&B Soul . Again, he had a different vision. Really nice project, imo.

the clavinet player is so locked in with drummer, bassist & Eddie

    or a banger like this

There are other lp's to discover but I will let you discover them.

    suggested if you like

    Wes Montgomery
    Grant Green
    Pete Cosey
    George Benson
    jimi
    Eddie Hazel
    Kool & the gang
    Funkadelic
    The Meters
    Sly & the family Stone
    Ohio Players

in this drop you get 6 solo lp's and collection of non album tracks for a running time slightly over 4 hours. He traverses such terrain as electro I wanted to cover this artist in depth in case people wanted to hear the journey of this musician to the end. Out of the 6, there are 4 are unavailable. It's a good haul for someone who wants to get more into guitar or continue collecting guitar based projects.

Eddie Fisher discography as a leader:

1969-Eddie Fisher Quintet - Third cup
    1970-Eddie F & the next 100 years
    1976-Fisher
    1977-Hot Lunch
    1985- The Promise
    2001 - 42nd street

The next lp is sort of an lp,I guess. they just combined most of Fisher 3rd lp and added 4 new tracks. I wouldn't really count it as a album. an EP with previously issued material.

He would release 2 other lp's in between his club performances & studio sessions for others. He passed away from cancer in 2007. I guess my closing is, it's just as important to remember those that left us with beautiful work moreso than to brag about a chart number or sales units.

This concludes our 4th drop this weekend. I said I would go for 5 and that's what you are getting. the next one is completely dedicated to Soul Sundays. Probably 11 or so. Let me know if you with this one though. Such a talented musician & composer merging jazz-funk-soul-r&B-psych-rock-blues.

the rhythm sounds like adaptation of Maze’s Joy & pain. This is from his mid 80’s electro project

Damn it's saying the vid is unavailable. What's the song called?

And when I type in the search on Youtube, it always points to me to a 50s white singer also named Eddie Fisher

i got you tonight, playa 😎

  • Just listened to The Promise. That was such an excellent project @op

Crazy to think this, but he really reminds me of DJ Quik. Almost as if he's a spiritual predecessor to him in energy, style, and flavor
