We could go on for a while with samples, fam

The group was founded in 1976 by Len Coley,Ricky Bailey & Roddy Harris. Delegation was mentored under the guidance of producer/songwriter Ken Gold, a cornerstone of British boogie soul & dance pop creating hits for other groups like The Real Thing, etc

They had one national US hit "Oh Honey" (it has 48 million views on one video!) which was sampled a few times by hip hop alumni

Really strong electric bass lines with nice lead & harmonies. Lush strings, melodic guitars and keyboards. Most of their tracks are dance floor driven grooves rather than slow tempo.

Delegation had success in their career in Europe but never caught on in the USA. 4 albums followed and original member Ricky bailey tried to restart the group in the 90's with some re-hash compilation with the help of Ken Gold. After this compilation not catching on, Ricky Bailey & Ken Gold had delegated enough and called it quits.

it is interesting to note the curse of Brit R&B Soul artists- groups curse

I guess you could say George Michael & Seal crossed over

But you can’t count these two in that category obviously

Jamiroquai had to market their records moreso overseas after virtual insanity wave was over

Soul II soul came pretty close with the cross over

Steve Winwood crossed over with Traffic and his late 80’s solo work (call it rock or pop - if you examine it - everything loses its meaning )

But then Steve winwood clapton and sting gabriel were just lucky to be able to go to R&b Pop and Rock

    and back again

Come to think of it, the rules are kind of pointless who gets to be on the pop rock and R&B charts

If you think about it, what keeps everyone isolated is the distortion level on a guitar

I heard curtis mayfield on classic rock I heard Earth wind on classic rock station

WAR has like 4 songs on classic rock format

I’ve tried to make sense of it but somehow Let’s Dance can be on classic rock but the person who co-wrote it & produced it - His group can’t

i’m telling you the more you look into it , it looks like a complex racket game of telling artists what they have to sound like but classic rock marketplace never followed the rules on what they play

Add to the fact i heard Isley brothers I wonder if it has something to do with a guitar solo on Who’s that lady

this is such a stupid rule. Babyface & Clapton change the world can be played but When can i see you again will not be played?

Bee Gees staying alive but we are family can’t be ?

Steely Dan can but Maze couldn’t

When Prince debuted they treated him like Donna Summer

Come to think of it, no one stuck to the format rules

And look what happened when R&B radio got even more strict with programming

they got their market share cut in half

And look what happened to R&b groups - bands across the globe - all basically gutted to the ground

It seems like country & r&b had to play second fiddle to pop & rock , not walking on sacred ground to interrupt their money train

But then they incubated NSync NKOTB BSB to see if they could get a R&B superstar in Pop camouflage

two justin’s & a partridge in a pear tree came out of that

and then look what they did to blues

they waited a eternity for someone who dressed like Hendrix bandito from texas and they crowned him king - SRV

All the rules went out the window, Stevie Ray wasn’t too old to be a blues /rock star

they posted him on every guitar magazine possible & positioned him at award show appearances next to guitar icons

Then when his helicopter crashed, they waited for a person to raise back to guitar throne. Either that person died of a d*** overdose or they started releasing lp’s to early They had to wait until 2000’s with John Mayer

I guess what i’m saying in a roundabout way of how we were all musically gaslighted into thinking that there were rules to follow

It’s like the music industry version of the pentagon masterminded this constant psy op game

And i think it just stems from guitar volume being too loud is not R&B

    100% factual post… preach nigga…

r&b is in a bad way in general, it’s something i often think about
