great album
luther -> tv off run is banger after banger and heart 6/gloria are incredible
title track is one of the worst songs of his career but nobody's perfect
niggas eliminated Peekaboo round 3 :vlosereave:
but nah
I'm way too important
I'm way too important
I'm way too important to ever let you slide on me again
Startin' to see spaceships on Rosecrans (Startin' to see spaceships on Rosecrans)
I seen the aliens hold hands (I seen the aliens hold hands)
They wanna see me do my dance (They wanna see me do my dance)
I let 'em watch me do my dance
Is one of my favorite music listening moments. I just remember not understanding wtf was going on or where this nigga was taking the album after the first 4 tracks leading into that section of Hey Now. type s*** I got to the end of the album and couldnāt believe it was already over. Classic. Peekaboo top 1 first listen. KBots won
Classic album that saw Kendrick once again redefining himself while still staying true to who he is. Accomplished his goal which was making people respect LA and the West Coast. Hard to believe this album was made in just a few months.
Said it the day it dropped and still feel the same. I always wanted Kendrick to drop a hard rap tape with no concept just kicking rhymes and flows. He delivered on every metric. Top 3 for me in his discography so enjoyable and reply value is nuts
I remember yall was calling this an instant classic on day 1. One of the few times KTT was right
This album reminded me of how eventful certain releases were back in the day. He really didnāt miss throughout that whole year. Crazy that this was a surprise release. Dropped outta nowhere and made impact immediately. Was cool to be apart of every moment. Hip hop needed a release like this, was long overdue.
Back in the day it seemed like we got big releases every other month. Being apart of the rollout was normal. People hyped the Clipse rollout but that felt pretty standard, especially if you came up watching BET/MTV. GNX era reminded me of those special albums. When they dropped you knew people were gonna be talking about it five years later. Idk if itās in my top 3 Kendrick projects but it def made waves like no other project this decade imo
He even gained an entirely new fan base which is crazy bc heās been in the mainstream for like 13 years
Iād argue this is the best victory lap moment in rap history
I remember yall was calling this an instant classic on day 1. One of the few times KTT was right
Only 2020s rap album to be worthy of that honestly
Wouldāve gotten 5 Mics in The Source
He killed so many narratives with this one release
Iām glad this was the follow up to Morale
I liked Morale but people started talking crazy about Kendrick legacy after it dropped
He came back with straight bangers on some West Coast s***. Even the sound of the album was surprising to me. He def did his thing. Love that he put on for the West
Said it the day it dropped and still feel the same. I always wanted Kendrick to drop a hard rap tape with no concept just kicking rhymes and flows. He delivered on every metric. Top 3 for me in his discography so enjoyable and reply value is nuts
there is definitely an underlying concept to this album and the evil twin s*** heās on tho, at least to me. especially if you juxtapose the pen into whatās going on in different songs. the first time he showed the gnx was a remembrance post of his cousin and they were playing with 2 gnxs. I think thatās why thereās 2 gnxs in the album intro video. one is running, and the other he gets out of and walks towards the light which becomes āreincarnated with loveā then the scene switches to just Dot and one gnx and the nigga got his somber face as he digs into his old, more aggressive self (maybe an aspect of him his cousin used to bring out of himā¦or yet another perspective piece from Dot on how his cousin would handle s*** heās going through rn or advice him to i.e. crash out)
I could keep going if we wanna talk about Whitneyās impact too. thereās a lot to unpack on this album and the surrounding build up and you can even stretch as far back as Mr. Morale
the surprise drop and that first listen of wacced out murals a top tier moment all time
Defo a classic. Top to bottom great. Tv off went crazy at a function I went to last weekend.
Classic album
A moment.
Album where he perfected the rnb/sing song records. Luther was undeniable on my first listen.
Gunna
Why is this under Gunna
Wacced Out Murals is so incredible nigga gave NO f***s how mad people were at him for beating the dogshit out of Drake
Classic
