On Thursday afternoon, the police announced a search for David Kozák, which they linked to a case of violent death in the village of Kladensko. Subsequently, it became clear that the wanted man was the shooter who later that afternoon killed 15 people and injured at least 24 others at the Faculty of Philosophy in Prague. The student is dead.

According to information published by the police in connection with the search, the missing Cossack was supposed to be armed.

The young man, who was a student at the Faculty of Philosophy, then went to the school, where he killed ten people. Dozens of other people were injured. The police cordoned off the area around the faculty building and urged the residents of nearby houses not to go out.

According to the police, the shooter was subsequently eliminated and people could be evacuated from the building. Some students barricaded themselves in the classrooms, others found refuge on the roof.

The motive for the shooting is not yet known. According to police chief Martin Vondrášek, the shooter was inspired by an incident that happened abroad in the past. The victims have not yet been identified

im so lost for words. rest in peace to every single soul lost. condolences to everyone’s families. one block away from my school, im absolutely f***ing terrified. got a handful of friends who go there but thankfully everyone’s okay i’m so damn thankful you dont even know how much. i know it sounds bad to be thankful for anything in this situation but i am, with all due respect to every single lost life. never thought that something like this could happen here but i guess i cant act surprised, just shocked. wasn’t even at school today cause i left prague yesterday to see my grandma in the countryside but still im completely shook. s*** that could’ve easily been me if i didn’t end up with a different choice a few months ago, this faculty was one of the ones i initially considered and had an application for. lost for words and sick to my stomach. RIP
