This is one of the reasons I still put this so highly over a project like IYTITL or TML.
This was definitely a pre-cursor to Take Care, but this imo is the best summary of what Drake is as an artist.

definitely agree on that last point! this was the project that really planted the seeds for his sound, a sound he hasn’t really left since
all the little sonic quirks and idiosyncrasies that people love about drake’s music all start here

Feb 13As time grows by, this is slowly creeping into my top 3 Drake projects.
So much nostalgia and memories tied into this project.
College years, walking home from classes through my city, blasting this on the headphones. Lights of the city just coming on as the sun is going down, cars driving by. I really felt like the world was my oyster, like I could do anything.
Or winter strolls as well, the 40 synths on a lot of these beats just go so well with a vibe of a winter night in the city.
